Job Description

The Server role at Denny's Bakersfield location is a pivotal position that directly impacts guest satisfaction and the overall success of the restaurant. This position reports to both the General Manager and Restaurant Manager, ensuring alignment and support across all operational aspects of the dining experience. The Server’s primary responsibilities are to greet, seat, and service guests in a courteous and customer-focused manner. This includes taking and delivering food and beverage orders accurately and promptly, suggestively selling menu items to enhance the guest experience and achieve sales targets, and processing payments efficiently while maintaining Denny's brand standards.

Beyond order taking and delivery, the Server also plays a crucial role in responding to guest concerns and requests earnestly and professionally to guarantee total guest satisfaction. This requires a comprehensive knowledge of the restaurant’s station and floor breakdowns, a strong familiarity with menu items, and the ability to manage multiple tables while maintaining composure and attentiveness. The Server prepares some beverage and food items such as appetizers, salads, and desserts, which require both skill and speed to ensure smooth service flow. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a customer service or restaurant server role preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • assists with guests seating, utilizing proper arrival order and rotation procedures
  • suggestively sells and achieves guest check average targets

  • checks prepared orders for completeness and presentation
  • delivers food and beverage orders timely and in accordance with standards
  • attends to guests during the entire dining experience in a prompt and courteous manner
  • demonstrates knowledge of station and floor breakdowns
  • possesses strong product and menu knowledge
  • uses proper telephone etiquette
  • assists with to go orders
  • pre-busses tables in a timely manner
  • clears, cleans and presets tables promptly upon guests departure
  • addresses complaints and requests promptly in a courteous manner and notifies the supervisor of any issues
  • demonstrates safe cash handling procedures in accordance with policy and accurately completes cash, credit card, and discount transactions
  • willingly assists others without being asked
  • maintains cleanliness and organization of the dining room and service area
  • completes all required side-work, including deep cleaning assignments
  • provides prompt and courteous service and is cordial to all team members and guests
  • adheres to Denny’s brand standards and internal policies and procedures
  • other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
