The Server role at TravelCenters of America is a critical position within the restaurant team, focused on delivering exceptional customer service to travelers. Servers at TA are responsible for ensuring guests receive friendly, accurate, and efficient service, contributing to a positive dining experience. This role allows team members to work in a lively and supportive environment that values trust and excellent service. Servers are expected to welcome customers warmly, be knowledgeable about menu items, and promote daily specials effectively. They handle transactions using point-of-sale (POS) systems, prioritize their duties in alignment with kitchen and guest needs, and maintain equipment in accordance with operational standards. Safety is a priority, and servers must follow proper food handling procedures. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to provide friendly, accurate, and efficient customer service
  • physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, climb occasionally and lift up to 50 lbs
  • ability to follow safety procedures related to food handling
  • excellent communication skills
  • availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays
  • willingness to work in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy and physically demanding environment

Job Qualifications

  • basic computer/POS knowledge preferred
  • previous food service experience a plus
  • good verbal communication skills

Job Duties

  • welcome and serve each customer courteously, quickly and efficiently with a sincere, positive, pleasant and enthusiastic attitude
  • be knowledgeable of menu items and promote daily specials
  • process transactions of customers on a point-of-sale (POS) register
  • prioritize your work according to the kitchen and dining guest needs
  • maintain equipment per operating standards
  • follow proper safety procedures when handling and/or preparing food
