The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation holds a rich ancestral heritage that dates back many centuries. Located in the San Diego region, the Tribe governs its own reservation and manages a range of business enterprises including a state-of-the-art Casino and a premier Golf Resort. This role focuses on providing exemplary food and beverage service to guests within the Sycuan community, specifically within the restaurant areas operated by the Tribe. As a Food and Beverage Server, your primary responsibility will be to welcome guests warmly, assist them with menu inquiries, and ensure timely and accurate order taking and delivery. You'll use point of sale systems efficiently to enter orders, apply discounts, and manage transactions with accuracy and professionalism.

Beyond the fundamental duties of food and beverage service, this position plays a critical role in promoting guest relations by offering relevant information on promotions, contests, and giveaways, contributing to an engaging and memorable guest experience. A focus on responsible alcohol service is also integral, emphasizing compliance with established policies, including checking identification, monitoring consumption, and ensuring the environment remains safe and enjoyable for all patrons.

Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across dining areas is essential, which involves regular cleaning, waste disposal, and maintaining well-stocked and organized service stations. This role requires physical stamina to stand and walk extended periods, carry serving trays, and perform various physical activities like bending and lifting.

Job Duties

  • Provide guests with food and beverage service by acknowledging and welcoming guests entering the restaurant area
  • answer questions about menu items
  • promptly take and serve food and beverage orders
  • enter orders into the point of sale system
  • enter discounts
  • deliver check to the cashier for processing and return change or receipt following established procedures
  • promote guest relations by responding to guest requests in a timely manner
  • offer appropriate up-to-date information regarding promotions, contests and giveaways
  • treat guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • ensure responsible alcohol beverage service policies are followed by asking for proper identification from guests who appear to be under the age of 30
  • monitor alcohol consumption
  • ensure guests do not become intoxicated following established procedures
  • stop alcohol service at the designated time
  • clear the room of all alcoholic containers, glasses and bottles for each venue at the time specified
  • maintain safe and sanitary dining areas by cleaning surfaces, picking up used plates, cups, condiments and utensils
  • dispose of all trash
  • ensure restaurant stations are stocked and clean by submitting supply requisitions
  • place delivered water, food and supplies in designated areas
  • replenish condiments in the server stations
  • polish silverware
  • fold napkins
  • clean shelves, condiment holders, tables and counters according to established procedures
