Job Description
Serenely located within the historic Kansas City Club building, The Hotel Kansas City is a premier destination that exquisitely blends the timeless charm of a historic social club with the sophistication and luxury of modern hospitality. With a rich legacy spanning over 100 years, this iconic hotel has served as the foremost social meeting place in Kansas City, offering guests a unique ambiance that combines history, culture, and contemporary elegance. The Hotel Kansas City boasts 144 beautifully appointed guest rooms, alongside exceptional dining experiences at its Town Company restaurant, where guests can enjoy three meals daily, and the Nighthawk cellar, a vibrant live music cocktail bar. A welcoming lobby lounge and bar further enhance the atmosphere, creating a vibrant social hub for both locals and visitors alike. For those organizing events, the hotel provides an impressive 20,000 square feet of versatile meeting space featuring historic ballrooms and a stunning 3,000 square foot rooftop event patio, making it an ideal venue for weddings, conferences, and other special occasions.
The role available at The Hotel Kansas City is centered in the Town Company restaurant and encompasses dual responsibilities as a server assistant and host. The server assistant function involves collaborating closely with servers to ensure that food and beverages are delivered efficiently, courteously, and with professionalism, all directed towards achieving the highest level of guest satisfaction. In this capacity, the candidate will be expected to provide prompt and friendly service, maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, and assist in creating a seamless dining experience. Meanwhile, the host duties focus on managing the front-of-house guest experience by warmly welcoming patrons, creating positive first impressions, managing table accommodations, and offering insightful menu recommendations. Hosts play a pivotal role in enriching the overall restaurant atmosphere and may be the final point of contact, ensuring guests leave with a memorable dining experience.
This dynamic position requires flexibility and a strong commitment to excellence, as it blends guest interaction and operational support in a fine dining setting. Ideal candidates must be ready to perform a variety of tasks such as pre-setting tables, delivering food orders, refilling beverages, clearing and resetting tables efficiently, communicating specials and promotions, and assisting with problem resolution. This is a unique opportunity to work within a historic venue famed for its exceptional hospitality standards while delivering outstanding service that resonates with both local customers and travelers. The position offers a chance to be part of a team that holds a deep appreciation for tradition and innovation in hospitality. The establishment values professionalism, attentiveness, and a genuine passion for enhancing guest experiences, making it a rewarding environment to develop a hospitality career.
