Job Description
Hewing Hotel, located in Minneapolis' vibrant North Loop neighborhood, also known as the Warehouse District, offers guests a unique hospitality experience that blends local culture with modern sophistication. Situated in the historic Jackson Building, originally constructed in 1897, the hotel stands as a gateway to the Warehouse District and is part of the Aparium Hotel Group, a brand recognized for combining the large-scale business acumen of major hospitality companies with the charm and personality of boutique hotels. Aparium’s philosophy emphasizes People, Place, and Character, creating enriching environments where guests and associates alike feel valued as integral parts of the community.
This hotel distinguishes itself by embracing the local culture and infusing it throughout the guest experience, setting it apart from typical business-focused hotels in Minneapolis. The location offers excellent access to major interstates and local transit, including the Metro Transit Blue Line and the Northstar Commuter Rail, making it convenient for visitors who want to explore the city’s cultural attractions like the Traffic Zone Center for Visual Arts and Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.
The part-time Server Assistant role at Hewing Hotel is part of this vibrant, guest-centric environment. This position reports directly to Food & Beverage Leadership and operates collaboratively within a dynamic team, including bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. The core responsibility is to support the in-room dining service by delivering food and beverages promptly and professionally, ensuring that every guest experience is memorable and meets the highest standards of hospitality.
The ideal candidate has a passion for food and beverage culture and stays informed about local dining trends. This role requires a balance of art and science as it involves anticipating and meeting guest needs with efficiency and warmth. The Server Assistant must be adept at managing time, understanding menu offerings in depth, including allergy and dietary considerations, and assisting in maintaining an organized and clean work environment. The ability to support other service staff by clearing plates, watering tables, delivering food with enthusiasm, and assisting with side work is essential.
At Hewing Hotel, teamwork is paramount. The Server Assistant will be involved in daily briefings and quarterly all-staff meetings designed to foster collaboration, share feedback, and strategize for continuous improvement. Employees are expected to uphold the company’s principles of People, Place, and Character, fostering an inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable workplace. This position demands reliability, punctuality, and a polished professional presence, as well as a positive attitude aimed at spreading joy to guests and colleagues alike.
The Server Assistant must maintain compliance with health and safety standards, understand safe alcohol service, and demonstrate a strong knowledge base of culinary and beverage terms with ongoing training. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, safely navigate various floor surfaces, lift trays up to 30 pounds, and work comfortably in extreme temperatures.
The pay rate for this position is $16.37 per hour, complemented by paid vacation and sick time. Aparium Hotel Group embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, offering discounted room rates across its properties and a sense of belonging within a passionate and forward-thinking team. Joining Hewing Hotel means contributing to a hospitality experience that honors the surrounding community and elevates the standards of guest service in Minneapolis.
