We are currently seeking a reliable and dedicated Busser to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant, ensuring tables are promptly prepared and cleared to accommodate guests. The Busser is responsible for providing excellent support to servers by assisting with running food and beverages, setting and resetting tables with clean linens and condiments, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the dining area. The position demands a people-oriented approach, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment. A successful candidate will uphold Smithfield Station’s mission by delivering exceptional customer service and contributing to the overall guest experience.
In this role, you will greet guests with warmth as they arrive, promptly serve ice water, coffee, or rolls, and assist servers during busy periods as needed. You will be responsible for keeping tables spotless by clearing dishes and debris immediately after guests depart, wiping down surfaces, and replacing tablecloths when necessary. Additionally, the role involves polishing silverware and glassware to maintain a pristine presentation, stocking supplies, and cleaning spilled food or drink to uphold the restaurant’s high standards of hygiene.
You will collaborate closely with servers, hosts, and management to ensure efficient seating and table utilization, communicate guest requests accurately, and help maintain the overall environment. Flexibility to assist with additional cleaning and stocking duties will contribute to seamless restaurant operations. Job Requirements
- Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Smithfield Station
- Set tables with clean linens, condiments, or other supplies
- Clear tables after guests, wipe tables or seats with dampened cloths or replace dirty tablecloths
- Promptly clean table tops, chairs, booths, and the floor under and around tables between guests
- Locate items requested by guests
- Scrape and stack dirty dishes and carry dishes and other tableware to kitchens for cleaning
- Take soiled tableware to the designated area, and unload, sort and stack silverware, dishes, and glassware for cleaning
- Perform serving, cleaning, or stocking duties to facilitate customer service
- Carry food, dishes, trays, or silverware from kitchens or supply areas to serving counters
- Clean up spilled food or drink or broken dishes
- Serve food to guests when servers need assistance and asked by a manager
- Promptly greet guests as they are seated and serve ice water, coffee, rolls, or butter to guests
- Thank guests as they leave
- Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, or trays
- Assist server and management when asked to clean and polish counters, shelves, walls, furniture, or equipment in food service areas or other areas of the restaurant, and mop or vacuum floors
- Fill beverage or ice dispensers when needed
- Communicate with server and host or hostess to expedite efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service
- Respond appropriately to guest requests, and communicate guest requests to server as needed
- Inspect assigned restroom and clean as needed
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement
- Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the restaurant
- Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations
Job Qualifications
