Job Description

The role available is a full-time position on the Waitstaff team at Arcadia Retirement Residence. This position is instrumental in providing outstanding dining experiences for residents, members, clients, and guests. The Waitstaff team plays a crucial role in ensuring residents receive high-quality service that meets their needs and exceeds expectations. Working 40 hours per week, the shifts are scheduled from Monday to Sunday, with five days a week either from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM or 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, providing flexible options for candidates.

The Waitstaff responsibilities include greeting guests promptly and professionally, taking beverage and food orders, preparing food and beverages according to health and safety regulations, and serving with accuracy and courtesy. The role also requires active communication with supervisors and managers to address residents' concerns regarding food quality and service. Maintaining cleanliness and readiness of waitstaff stations during shifts is another key duty, alongside participating in necessary emergency drills and responding to emergencies as outlined in the organization’s Disaster Response Playbook. The position demands patience, understanding, and kindness in daily resident and client interactions, reflecting the core values and mission of the Arcadia Family of Companies.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in customer service preferred
  • Proficiency in using POS systems and related computer applications
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow health and safety regulations
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate preferred
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • Use of computers and working knowledge of POS system and software applications

Job Duties

  • Greets all guests and takes beverage and food orders in a prompt and professional manner
  • Prepares food and beverages for service to residents and guests in compliance with all health and safety regulations and presentation standards
  • Accurately enters orders into the POS system
  • Serves food and beverages to residents and guests with accuracy in a courteous, timely, and professional manner, meeting or exceeding guest service standards and expectations
  • Works with and follows up with Supervisors and Managers to address and respond to residents’ concerns and requests in regard to food quality, service, and related matters
  • Provides Managers and Supervisors with continuous feedback from residents on food preparation, presentation, and taste
  • Performs side-work and other opening or closing duties as required
  • Ensures that waitstaff stations are clean and maintained throughout the shift
  • Performs the necessary duties for emergency drills and situations such as fire, fire alarms, hurricanes, and other possible emergencies as outlined in the Disaster Response Playbook
  • Interacts with residents/clients and co-workers with patience, understanding and kindness in accordance with Arcadia Family of Companies’ mission and core values
