Job Description

The Ritz-Carlton Portland, located at 900 SW Washington St, Portland, Oregon, is a flagship luxury hotel that epitomizes the pinnacle of fine dining and hospitality in the Pacific Northwest. Known globally for its exceptional service and sophisticated ambiance, The Ritz-Carlton brand consistently delivers an unparalleled guest experience that combines elegance, comfort, and meticulous attention to detail. As part of Marriott International's portfolio of esteemed properties, this location not only upholds the prestigious reputation of The Ritz-Carlton but also fosters a welcoming and inclusive workplace that values diversity and promotes equal opportunity. The hotel specializes in providing luxury accommodations alongside exquisite culinary offerings, making it a preferred destination for discerning guests seeking memorable experiences beyond the ordinary. With a commitment to excellence, the establishment prides itself on cultivating a culture where associates are empowered, appreciated, and inspired to deliver exceptional service every day.

The Guest Service Expert position at The Ritz-Carlton Portland is an integral role that shapes the overall dining experience for guests. Unlike conventional roles that focus solely on food preparation or service, this role emphasizes creating an unforgettable and unique atmosphere where food and drinks complement an exceptional guest journey. Guest Service Experts are tasked with a variety of functions, from setting tables and communicating effectively with kitchen staff to serving guests and ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of work areas and supplies. These professionals act as frontline ambassadors, making every transaction and interaction feel seamless and part of the larger experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate dedication to maintaining a safe workplace, adhering strictly to company policies and quality standards, and presenting themselves and their communications in a professional manner. Physical stamina is crucial, as the role requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or walking, as well as the ability to navigate slippery or uneven surfaces and handle objects up to 50 pounds with assistance. The position demands a hands-on, proactive approach to daily duties, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and stooping.

The ideal candidate for this full-time, non-management role will preferably have luxury, fine dining, or hotel experience. Open availability, particularly for day shifts and weekends, is highly desirable to meet the dynamic needs of the hospitality environment. While a high school diploma or GED is the preferred educational background, less than one year of related work experience is acceptable, and no supervisory experience or specific licenses are required. As part of The Ritz-Carlton team, Guest Service Experts are expected to adopt and exemplify the company’s Gold Standards, including its Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values. These foundational principles not only guide day-to-day operations but also drive the brand’s global recognition for luxury hospitality. Working at The Ritz-Carlton means joining a community where creativity, thoughtfulness, and compassion are highly valued, and where team members can take pride in their work and colleagues. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a world-class brand that is synonymous with excellence in guest care and the creation of lifelong memories.
