Job Description

Pine Hall, located on the original Hudson's site in Detroit, pays homage to the city's rich history and the iconic Pine Room through a blend of vintage keepsakes and expertly crafted ice-cold cocktails featuring Michigan spirits. As the first Detroit outpost of Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, founded in New York City in 1985, Pine Hall brings over four decades of unparalleled hospitality experience to Detroit. The restaurant draws inspiration from beloved establishments such as Gramercy Tavern and Shake Shack, blending classic hospitality values with a modern twist that resonates well with both locals and visitors.

Pine Hall prides itself on serving classic cocktails crafted with local spirits, a selection of cold beers, and elevated tavern fare that is familiar yet enhanced for a memorable dining experience. The environment at Pine Hall reflects a deep commitment to community, quality, and the celebration of Detroit's cultural heritage. The establishment aims to offer guests not only excellent food and drinks but also a warm, inviting atmosphere inspired by the city’s storied past.

The Server role at Pine Hall is crucial to maintaining the high standards of the restaurant’s service team. Servers are responsible for delivering memorable dining experiences filled with attentive hospitality, delicious food, and exceptional service. As the backbone of the service team, a Server plays a leadership role on the floor, managing the sale and service of food and beverages while ensuring guests feel welcomed and valued. This position requires a strong understanding of menu items, excellent communication skills, and the ability to anticipate guest needs effectively.

A Server at Pine Hall actively supports the culture of Enlightened Hospitality, showcasing expertise in the food and beverage offerings, including ingredient knowledge and preparation methods. The role demands efficiency and grace, coupled with a sense of urgency during service to maintain a smooth, enjoyable dining experience for all guests. Servers must also uphold the cleanliness and appearance standards of the restaurant before, during, and after service shifts. The role offers growth opportunities within a company that values continuous learning and development.

Employment at Pine Hall is part of the Union Square Hospitality Group’s dedication to offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive culture rooted in care, creativity, and growth. Employees gain access to competitive wages, a digital wallet for quick access to earnings, comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, and matched 401(k) plans. Additional benefits such as life insurance, employee assistance programs, wellness services, dining discounts across the USHG family of restaurants, commuter benefits, and access to an employee relief fund make this position not just a job but a career opportunity.

This role is ideal for candidates with at least one year of experience in a guest-facing restaurant role, capable of working lunch shifts, and physically able to stand, walk, and carry items up to 30 pounds for extended periods. English fluency is required, with additional languages preferred but not mandatory. The work environment is dynamic with high standards, focusing heavily on teamwork and interpersonal connections, guided by Union Square Hospitality Group’s six core behaviors that emphasize excellence, humility, generosity, and responsibility.
