As a per diem position with a competitive salary, the Server role in the Dining Services department is crucial for maintaining the high standards Maplewood residents expect and deserve. The server is responsible for creating a welcoming dining atmosphere that prioritizes comfort, engagement, and timely service to residents and their guests. Reporting directly to the Culinary Services Director, this role involves preparation tasks, meal service support, and dining room maintenance, ensuring an outstanding dining experience that aligns with Maplewood’s commitment to excellence. The Server will assist in setting up and cleaning the dining area, stocking snack sections, and collaborating effectively with the culinary and sales teams to positively represent the community to visitors and prospective residents. Additionally, the position requires adherence to safety and emergency protocols, maintaining cleanliness, and engaging with residents personally to enhance their overall satisfaction. Employees must complete mandatory in-service education and be prepared to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- experience and passion in working with seniors
- experience working in assisted living or another long-term care setting preferred
- physically able to bend reach and work in confined spaces
- physically able to push and pull and lift up to 50 lbs at times
- physically able to carry large trays of food to and from the kitchen
- physically able to stand for extended periods of time
- physically able to work in hot or humid environments for extended amounts of time
- in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
- required to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during inclement weather as needed
- may be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired
- may be required to work extended hours
- subject to exposure to infectious waste diseases and conditions
- subject to burns from hot foods or falls on slippery floors if caution is not used when working and training is not followed
- could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental status
- criminal background check required

Job Duties
- provides outstanding customer experience for residents and their loved ones as well as other visitors to the community
- assures that residents are comfortable engaged and catered to in the dining room(s)
- performs all assignments prior to the dining room(s) opening
- assists with meal service under the supervision of the Chef Dining Room Manager and/or Culinary Services Director
- understands the daily menu and how food is prepared before each meal and is able to answer questions related to the menu
- assures snack area(s) are properly stocked and kept tidy and clean
- assists in keeping dining room(s) clean and properly arranged for residents
- performs assignments after dining room(s) closes and ensures the room(s) is ready for the next meal
- engages with tours and the sales team to offer the best possible first impression
- develops and maintains a good working rapport with teammates and associates in other departments to ensure that the dining experience is of the highest quality for residents and guests
- complete monthly in-service education hours as required by state specific regulations and company policies
- performs other tasks as assigned by the Culinary Services Director Chef on Duty or Department Heads
