Silver Diner has been featured as one of Washington Post's 'Most Diverse Places to Work' and recognized by Full Service Restaurant Magazine as one of the '20 Full Service Restaurants to Watch.' Awarded the 2020 TDn2K Best Practices Award for the Family Dining Category, Silver Diner prides itself on its dedication to excellence and innovation in the hospitality industry.
The company offers a fresh and local menu that merges flexitarian and healthy options, crafted by award-winning Chef Ype Von Hengst. With direct partnerships with over 15 local farms emphasizing organic and sustainable farming, Silver Diner delivers cuisine that balances quality, health, and flavor. This unique approach places Silver Diner at the forefront of modern casual dining, bridging the gap between traditional tablecloth restaurants and fast food establishments.
At Silver Diner, the philosophy centers around a people-first culture that empowers employees to thrive both professionally and personally. They focus heavily on internal promotion, with over 60 percent of their managers and all their General Managers and Area Directors being promoted from within. This approach creates a dynamic environment where employees are more than just workers; they are valued team members with a clear career path.
The role offered is geared towards individuals passionate about hospitality, food service, and making meaningful guest connections. It involves being the face of the Silver Diner brand, delivering exceptional service while promoting and selling the innovative flexitarian menu. The position requires flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the busy nature of the restaurant industry.
Silver Diner offers both full-time and part-time roles, with servers having the potential to earn $800 or more per week in tips. Beyond compensation, the company provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401K plan, and an Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, employees enjoy perks such as meal discounts, gym membership discounts, work shoe discounts, and referral bonuses.
The work environment at Silver Diner is fast-paced, friendly, and supportive, fostering personal best performances from every team member. The company is looking for individuals who are contagiously friendly, warm, and energetic, with a genuine love for hospitality. Previous serving experience is preferred but not required, making this role accessible to those new to the industry as well.
In summary, Silver Diner offers not just a job but a career path in a respected, award-winning establishment that values its people and their growth. The company culture revolves around its mission "To be the best we can be," with core principles focusing on people, product excellence, guest satisfaction, and sustainable growth.
