Job Description

Renaissance Hotels is a distinguished brand within the Marriott International portfolio, well-known for its commitment to delivering unique, localized experiences to guests. Located at 1 W Wacker Dr, Chicago, Illinois, the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel embodies the spirit of its vibrant neighborhood by offering visitors an adventurous and culturally rich stay. As part of Marriott International, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, Renaissance Hotels strives to create an environment that fosters growth, inclusivity, and exceptional guest service. Marriott International is dedicated to being an equal opportunity employer, creating a diverse and welcoming workplace while providing employees with competitive benefits and career opportunities.

This part-time, non-management Food and Beverage service role at Renaissance Hotels focuses on serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests while ensuring the highest standards of customer service and hospitality are upheld. The hourly pay rate is $12.93, with additional training and paid time off benefits at a rate of $19.40 per hour. Tip eligibility is applicable, enhancing overall compensation. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability are preferred, as these shifts align with peak guest activity in the hotel’s restaurants and event spaces. Serving experience is also preferred, enabling the candidate to efficiently manage customer interactions and service flow in a high-paced environment.

The position involves a range of responsibilities, including setting tables according to various event standards, answering guest inquiries regarding menu items, and communicating effectively with the kitchen staff to resolve any menu issues, wait times, or special dietary needs. Employees are required to accurately record orders using the MICROS point of sale system, maintain cleanliness of workstations, ensure the presentation of checks, and process payments. Maintaining a professional appearance and adherence to company safety and security protocols is essential. Furthermore, this role demands excellent interpersonal skills to warmly welcome guests, anticipate their needs, and ensure their satisfaction throughout their dining experience.

Working in a hotel environment, particularly at a high-profile location like Renaissance Chicago Downtown, requires physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods. Employees must be able to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds independently and collaborate when handling heavier items exceeding 50 pounds. Flexibility to work on uneven surfaces, stairways, and service ramps while performing bending, twisting, and stooping movements is also necessary. The role’s duties emphasize teamwork, communication, and a positive work ethic, contributing to the overall guest experience and operational success.

Joining the Renaissance Hotels team means becoming part of a world-class hospitality company that values cultural diversity, personal growth, and delivering memorable experiences. Employees have access to a variety of benefits designed to support their well-being and career development. By contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the hotel’s events and dining services, team members directly impact the storytelling and adventure that guests expect from the Renaissance brand. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a dynamic, guest-focused work environment within the globally respected Marriott International family.
