Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a dynamic and nationally recognized restaurant brand rooted in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded by two LSU walk-on basketball players who turned their dream into reality through hard work, teamwork, and an underdog spirit, Walk-On's has grown from a single location to a thriving chain known for its scratch-made dishes infused with Louisiana flair and its exciting game-day atmosphere. The company prides itself on fostering a culture that embraces every team member as family and values energy, passion, and pride in every shift. At Walk-On's, each role matters—from kitchen staff to frontline servers—and the entire team collaborates to deliver unforgettable guest experiences.
The environment at Walk-On's is characterized by camaraderie, hustle, and a championship-level spirit. The organization believes in celebrating wins together, pushing through challenges side by side, and treating guests like part of the team. This supportive culture not only meets the demands of a fast-paced restaurant industry but also offers employees opportunities for personal and professional growth. Walk-On's stands out as a place where dedication and hospitality merge to create a vibrant workplace and memorable dining experiences.
The Server position at Walk-On's is a part-time, non-exempt role reporting to the Manager on Duty. Servers and hostesses serve as the first point of contact for guests, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every interaction. The role is crucial to maintaining the gameday atmosphere that the brand is known for. Servers are responsible for greeting and seating guests, taking accurate orders, suggesting menu items, running food, clearing tables, maintaining clean dining areas, and handling takeout orders. They must also process payments accurately, operate the POS system, and adhere to all alcohol service laws and company policies, including maintaining any required state bar cards.
The position demands strong communication skills, a friendly and customer-focused attitude, and the ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure. Servers must be able to stand, walk, bend, and carry trays up to 25 pounds throughout their shifts, which often include nights, weekends, and gameday events. Flexibility and reliability are essential, as the role requires a team player who thrives in a high-energy environment and can jump in wherever needed to support coworkers and management.
Working at Walk-On's offers more than just a job; it represents the opportunity to be part of a winning culture surrounded by motivated and passionate individuals. Part-time hours are flexible, making the role ideal for students or anyone balancing other commitments. Employees receive training, support, and opportunities to grow within the company to advance into other roles. Walk-On's commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and community support makes it a welcoming and vibrant workplace where employees are valued and encouraged to succeed.
