Job Description
Purple Cow is a beloved 50s-style, full-service diner located in Central Arkansas that has been serving "The Young of All Ages" since 1989. Known for its gourmet burgers, specialty sandwiches, delicious entrée salads, and old-fashioned soda fountain treats, Purple Cow emphasizes quality and freshness in every dish. The diner proudly uses Arkansas' own Yarnell's Premium Ice Cream and prepares many of its menu items from scratch, including soups, sauces, dressings, award-winning cheese dip, and chili. This commitment to authenticity and quality has earned the Purple Cow a strong reputation among locals and visitors alike.
At Purple Cow, service goes beyond just food delivery; the team operates on a culture of "Outrageous" service, aiming to create a unique, memorable dining experience for each guest. The environment is clean, organized, and fun, designed to make everyone feel welcome and valued. This lively atmosphere is maintained by a dedicated team who works cooperatively to ensure that every guest receives prompt, friendly, and enthusiastic service.
The role of Food Server at Purple Cow is crucial in delivering this exceptional guest experience. Reporting to the Manager on Duty and working within the Front of the House department, servers are the face of the restaurant. Their primary responsibility is to interact with guests in a friendly, enthusiastic manner, ensuring each visitor enjoys an "Outrageous" experience. Servers must be capable of thriving in a fast-paced team environment, demonstrating professionalism, attention to detail, and a positive attitude at all times.
Food Servers at Purple Cow are entrusted with numerous tasks that contribute directly to guest satisfaction and smooth restaurant operations. These include maintaining a clean station, greeting and taking accurate orders, delivering food and drinks promptly, and handling cash transactions with care and accuracy. The position also involves organizing and stocking job-related items and maintaining personal cash banks to manage customer payments efficiently.
Working at Purple Cow comes with the opportunity to grow professionally within a company that values education, advancement, and individual contributions. The diner fosters a learning-oriented and team-based culture where every employee’s voice is heard and respected. The management team is dedicated to providing advancement and educational opportunities at every level of the business, helping team members achieve both professional and personal goals. Purple Cow has a strong tradition of promoting from within, often developing hourly workers into salaried management roles and eventually General Managers.
Compensation for the Food Server position includes competitive pay of up to $20 per hour, which includes tips. This reflects the company’s commitment to rewarding its team members fairly for their hard work and dedication.
Additionally, Purple Cow is deeply committed to community involvement. The team actively participates in and supports various local charities and nonprofit organizations, such as Race to Remember, Arkansas Autism Walk, Grinch Fest, Mid America Museum, Soup Sunday, Silent Sunday, Arkansas Food Bank, Bethlehem House, and Alzheimer’s of Arkansas. The company takes pride in not only its food and service but in its contributions to the local community, making it a meaningful place to work for those passionate about giving back.
Joining the Purple Cow team means becoming part of a supportive, friendly, and enthusiastic group focused on creating memorable dining experiences while also providing a fulfilling and growth-oriented workplace. The Food Server role is ideal for individuals with strong guest service skills, the ability to multitask efficiently, and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality in a fun and energetic atmosphere.
