Job Description
Marriott International is a global leader in the hospitality industry, renowned for its commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences and fostering a culture of inclusivity and diversity. As a leading hotel chain, Marriott International operates a wide range of properties worldwide, including the Westin brand, which is dedicated to promoting wellness and well-being for its guests and associates. The Westin brand emphasizes empowering guests to maintain their health and vitality while traveling, creating an environment where associates are encouraged to embrace their own well-being practices both professionally and personally. Marriott's strong values of respect, integrity, and teamwork are deeply ingrained in its work culture, making it a preferred employer in the hospitality sector.
This position is for a part-time Food and Beverage team member located at Westin Chicago, situated at 320 N Dearborn St, Chicago, Illinois. The role is non-management and offers an hourly wage ranging from $13.66, with a training and paid time off (PTO) rate of $22.00 per hour. The position is tip eligible and requires flexible availability, favoring candidates who can adapt to various shifts and demands of the hospitality environment. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about delivering excellent customer service, supporting team objectives, and contributing to a high-quality dining experience.
The Food and Beverage team member plays a crucial role in guest satisfaction by serving food courses and alcoholic beverages with attentiveness and professionalism. Responsibilities include setting tables appropriately according to event and service standards, answering guest inquiries regarding menu selections, and communicating effectively with kitchen staff about menu questions, order wait times, and special dietary requests including allergies. Team members are expected to use the MICROS point-of-sale system to record transactions efficiently and ensure that guests are satisfied during their dining experience through regular check-ins. Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and dining ware throughout the shift is essential, along with completing closing duties such as restocking supplies and securing the workspace.
The role demands adherence to company safety and security policies, including reporting hazards and completing safety training. Associates must uphold a professional appearance, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Excellent communication skills are required to welcome guests warmly, anticipate and respond to service needs, and support coworkers to achieve common goals. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting objects up to 25 pounds independently, and assisting with heavier items, as well as navigating various work surfaces safely.
In addition to the core responsibilities, the position supports Marriott’s commitment to equal employment opportunity, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds without discrimination. Associates benefit from comprehensive employment packages including health care, retirement plans, life insurance, disability coverage, earned paid time off including sick leave, and wellness benefits after meeting eligibility criteria. This enriching work environment at Westin encourages associates to grow both personally and professionally, while contributing to a brand mission centered on wellness and guest empowerment. Candidates seeking a fulfilling role in a respected hospitality company dedicated to excellence and well-being will find this Food and Beverage position an excellent opportunity to grow and thrive.
