The Server position at Duffy's is a frontline role essential to the restaurant's success. This role involves following a precise set of service steps to guarantee that every guest's dining experience is more than just a meal – it is a memorable event filled with attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly service. Reporting directly to the General Manager, servers are responsible not only for taking and delivering orders but also for being brand ambassadors who engage guests by introducing them to the MVP program, explaining menu items, and upselling to elevate the overall dining experience. These tasks require excellent communication skills, deep familiarity with the menu, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and professional attitude. Servers must be efficient in using the Point of Sale (POS) system to input orders accurately and handle transactions seamlessly.

In addition to delivering personalized service, servers play a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the restaurant. This includes resetting tables promptly, assisting hosts with guest greetings and seating, and performing cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, and tidying service areas. The job demands physical stamina, as servers stand and move around for long periods and lift moderate weights. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Escort guests to their tables when needed
  • review MVP program with all guests
  • demonstrate strong MVP program knowledge
  • review menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, upsell to improve dining experience and raise check average
  • explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • write guests food orders on order pads and repeat the order back to the guest
  • input guests order accurately into POS system
  • check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • check guests’ identification to ensure minimum age requirements for alcoholic beverages
  • collect payments from guests
  • remove dishes and glasses from tables and take them to kitchen for cleaning
  • clean and reset tables after guests have finished dining
  • assist host or hostess by answering phones, taking to-go orders, greeting, seating, and thanking guests
  • perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying server station, taking out trash, and checking bathrooms
  • roll silverware, set up food stations or dining areas for next shift or large parties
  • stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, tea, beverages, napkins, side plates
  • fill salt, pepper shakers, and wipe down table tents throughout the shift
  • ask guests to leave a review
  • maintain a positive and professional attitude toward coworkers and customers
