Job Requirements
- Pre-employment drug test including marijuana and controlled substances
- Strict prohibition of alcohol consumption during work
- Adherence to grooming standards including limitations on visible tattoos and piercings
- Ability to stand for entire shift and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, squatting, and reaching
- Ability to climb ladders and pass through small hatches in emergencies
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and live in an environment subject to constant ship motions such as surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch, and yaw
- Temporary employment for up to 28 weeks with no guarantee of future employment
- Full-time, nonexempt position
- Must work 7 days a week while onboard
Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be an American citizen or Green Card holder
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work extended hours and in a high-pressure environment
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Willingness and ability to live and work onboard a ship for extended periods
Job Duties
- Provide guests with an elegant and memorable dining experience
- Set up and break down dining areas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail hour including tables, linen, silverware, china, and glassware
- Cater to all culinary requests efficiently
- Greet guests by name, escort to tables, present menus, suggest courses and wines, and answer menu questions
- Relay orders to galley and serve courses and beverages with care ensuring presentation and garnish
- Perform additional duties such as greeting guests during embarkation, serving afternoon teas and snacks, and assisting with evening entertainment
- Maintain composure and positive attitude under pressure
