Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest U.S. cruise company specializing in unique travel experiences along America's rivers and coastlines. Established with a commitment to showcasing the beauty and history of the United States, American Cruise Lines offers guests immersive journeys on some of the finest American ships. The company emphasizes values such as optimism, commitment, patriotism, and merit, which are deeply embedded in its corporate culture and reflected in excellent customer service. This dedication has positioned American Cruise Lines as America's Leading Small Ship Cruise Line. With over 50 itineraries that span more than 35 states, the company is proud to provide travel that highlights the American story in an elegant and memorable way.

The role of a Server on board American Cruise Lines is a dynamic and rewarding position within the shipboard hotel and restaurant services. It is a temporary employment opportunity designed for the 2026 cruising season and lasts approximately 28 weeks. Servers play a vital role in delivering outstanding hospitality and are charged with enhancing the guest experience by providing impeccable dining service. The job starts with setting up and breaking down dining spaces for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail hours, ensuring all settings are inviting and professionally arranged, including linens, silverware, china, and glassware.

Servers actively engage guests by greeting them warmly, escorting them to their tables, presenting menus, and making personalized dining recommendations including food courses and wine pairings. They efficiently take orders and communicate them to the galley, ensuring that all meals and beverages served are presented attractively and meet quality standards. Additionally, Servers may be asked to perform other hospitality duties such as welcoming guests during embarkation, serving afternoon teas and snacks, or assisting during evening entertainment events.

This position offers competitive wages ranging from $1,000 to $1,400 per week plus additional bonuses. With major living expenses covered onboard, including travel, room and board, uniforms, and training, this role provides a unique chance for employees to save money while gaining invaluable experience in the hospitality industry. Although this is an introductory role, it serves as an excellent foundation for those aspiring to build a career in cruise line hospitality. The job requires stamina and adaptability, given the ship’s movements and extended hours worked, typically up to 12-hour shifts. Successful Servers must maintain composure under pressure, exhibit a positive attitude, and work well within a team environment, all while upholding American Cruise Lines' high standards for guest service and professionalism. American Cruise Lines is an equal opportunity employer committed to workplace diversity and offers a respectful and inclusive environment for all crew members.
