The Server role in our culinary department is a pivotal position that directly impacts the dining experience of our community members and guests. This non-exempt position involves delivering Platinum Service® with every interaction, going beyond basic food service to create a truly exceptional experience. Serving aesthetically pleasing and delicious meals, adhering to portion control standards, and ensuring food safety through strict sanitary practices are all core responsibilities. The Server is instrumental in setting up the dining environment with the necessary utensils and condiments, managing meal orders, and assisting residents with their needs, such as pouring beverages or opening containers. This role requires excellent communication skills to effectively interact with supervisors, team members, residents, and families, along with the ability to handle various physical demands such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods. Working in a dynamic and sometimes fast-paced environment, the Server also supports special events and parties, maintains cleanliness according to standardized schedules, and contributes to the smooth operation of meal service. We seek individuals who are capable of independent decision-making, tactful in dealing with diverse groups, and sensitive to the needs of elderly or disabled residents. Food service or hospitality experience is preferred but not mandatory for candidates willing to embrace our Platinum Service® philosophy and contribute to an outstanding dining experience. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive on interaction, enjoy multitasking in a supportive environment, and take pride in delivering exceptional guest service in the hospitality sector.

Job Requirements

  • Must meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position
  • Food service and/or hospitality experience preferred
  • Ability to make independent decisions and follow instructions
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public
  • Capable of working with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, residents, and families
  • Must be able to frequently lift/carry 30 lbs and occasionally lift/carry 50 lbs
  • Must be able to frequently push/pull up to 30 lbs and occasionally push/pull up to 50 lbs
  • Frequently standing or walking
  • Bending, twisting, stooping
  • Reaching at or below the shoulder
  • May be exposed to heat from kitchen equipment and cold from kitchen freezer

Job Duties

  • Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
  • Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
  • Distribute and collect menus as necessary
  • Take meal orders, serve food and beverages, and answer questions regarding the menu
  • Follow sanitary regulations at all times
  • Provide Platinum Service with each dining experience
  • Set up meal trays, food carts and set up the dining room with utensils, salt and pepper, napkins, and clean common areas prior and after meals are served
  • Assist in checking resident trays before distribution
  • Pour hot and cold beverages for residents
  • Assist residents with opening their containers and condiments as needed
  • Pay special attention to resident and guest needs while they are enjoying their dining experience
  • Prepare and deliver snacks to special events and parties hosted at the community
  • Bus tables during and after the meals
  • Provide support services to other dining rooms, during events and activities as needed
  • Clean dining room area according to the cleaning schedules and assignments
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
