Job Description
JW Marriott Essex House New York is part of JW Marriott's luxury portfolio under Marriott International, comprising more than 100 stunning hotels located in prominent cities and premium resort destinations worldwide. JW Marriott is renowned for prioritizing its employees because a happy workforce translates to satisfied guests. The team at JW Marriott is characterized by confidence, innovation, genuineness, and intuition, all while upholding the legacy of the company founder, J. Willard Marriott. Employees enjoy an unparalleled work experience, forming part of a diverse and inclusive community where camaraderie thrives among colleagues from many backgrounds. JW Marriott commits to providing numerous opportunities for training, professional development, recognition, and, most importantly, a space where employees can pursue their passions within a luxurious environment that supports holistic well-being. Exceptional treatment of guests starts with the care and respect the company provides its employees—this is known as The JW Treatment™.
This full-time, non-management Room Service role at JW Marriott Essex House New York offers a competitive pay range of $20.01 to $26.69 per hour plus tips. The position is based onsite at 160 Central Park S, New York, and requires physical capability such as moving and lifting up to 25 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and maintaining a professional appearance with a clean uniform. Prior to employment, candidates must complete training and certification focused on safety.
As a Room Service team member, your primary responsibility will be to create memorable dining experiences for guests by greeting them warmly and serving food and beverages promptly and courteously. Your knowledge of the menu and ability to offer recommendations will enhance guest satisfaction. You will efficiently handle transactions using the MICROS system and proactively check in with guests to ensure their ordering needs and expectations are met. At the end of shifts, you will complete cleaning duties, including clearing tables, restocking supplies, and closing tasks. The role demands excellent conversational skills, a strong team-oriented attitude, and a positive, outgoing personality. While previous experience as a waiter is a significant advantage, it is not mandatory, making this role accessible for those new to hospitality or returning professionals.
JW Marriott aligns with Marriott International's Equal Employment Opportunity policies, fostering an inclusive environment that values diversity in backgrounds, talents, and experiences. They prohibit discrimination based on disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Joining JW Marriott Essex House offers a unique opportunity to be part of an iconic brand known globally for exceptional hospitality, as you contribute to delivering "A wonderful hotel experience, always." Working here means you'll be empowered to perform your best work, fulfill your purpose, join a supportive global team, and become your best self, all within a luxury hotel that deeply values its employees and guests alike.
