We are currently seeking a Food Service Worker to join our dietary team. This role is crucial in maintaining the nutritional standards and food safety protocols within the facility. The Food Service Worker will be responsible for preparing and portioning food and beverages for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus. Duties include meal preparation for residents, employees, and special events while adhering to strict food handling and safety guidelines. The position requires maintaining food temperatures, proper labeling and storage of food items, and ensuring attractive presentation of meals. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, washing dishes, and proper operation of kitchen equipment are key components of the job.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate attention to detail, efficiency in food service, and ability to work well in a team environment. This position involves interacting positively with residents, families, and visitors while ensuring punctuality and adherence to scheduled shifts. Experience in food service, especially within a long-term care setting, is preferred, along with any required food handlers permits. This role is essential in supporting the overall dining experience and enhancing the quality of life for residents through safe and appealing meal service. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age due to federal child labor laws concerning the operation of power-driven kitchen equipment.

Job Duties
- Prepares and/or pre-portions food such as beverages, salads, desserts, and other assigned items for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus
- Prepares and/or portions food using proper food handling and safety techniques according to established policies and regulations
- Ensures food is served in an attractive and appetizing manner
- Utilizes standardized recipes to prepare menu items
- Delivers meals and snacks to designated areas according to established schedules
- Maintains proper food temperature during preparation and service and records temperatures
- Serves resident meals/snacks accurately following diet orders and food preferences
- Uses correct portion control utensils during food preparation and service
- Labels, dates, and stores food properly
- Monitors and records refrigerator/freezer temperatures and reports discrepancies
- Washes dishes and kitchen items according to procedures and maintains hygiene
- Keeps work areas clean and uncluttered during food preparation and service
- Performs cleaning assignments using appropriate chemicals
- Uses protective equipment and follows infection control protocols
- Ensures availability and proper storage of dishes and kitchen items
- Assists in receiving, storing, and verifying food and supply invoices
- Reports inadequate stock levels
- Uses food supplies and equipment economically
- Maintains kitchen security
- Performs duties using proper safety techniques
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment and reports problems
- Completes tasks within established time frames
- Recommends improvements in recipes, menus, and food service quality
- Works cooperatively with nursing center departments
- Interacts positively with residents, families, and visitors
- Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts
