The role of Server for American Cruise Lines is a pivotal position for the 2026 cruising season, offering a unique opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team onboard some of America's finest ships. This temporary position spans 28 weeks and demands dedication, professionalism, and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality. As a Server, you will be at the forefront of guest interaction, ensuring an elegant and memorable dining experience is provided to every guest. Your responsibilities will range from setting and breaking down dining spaces to efficiently catering to culinary requests, demonstrating a keen attention to detail and polished customer service skills. You will embody the company’s values by greeting guests warmly, assisting with menu selections, and ensuring all food and beverages served meet the highest standards of presentation and quality.

Job Requirements

  • Pre-employment drug test including testing for marijuana and controlled substances
  • no consumption of alcohol while employed onboard
  • ability to work 7 days per week for up to 28 weeks
  • ability to stand for entire shifts
  • ability to lift frequently up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs
  • ability to bend, squat, and reach frequently
  • ability to safely live and work on board a vessel for extended periods
  • ability to use stairs frequently
  • ability to work around 12 hours per day
  • ability to assist in onboard emergencies by climbing ladders and passing through confined hatches

Job Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • American citizen or Green Card holder

Job Duties

  • Provide guests with an elegant and memorable dining experience
  • efficiently set up and break down dining areas including tables, linens, silverware, china, and glassware
  • cater to all culinary requests promptly and efficiently
  • acknowledge guests by name, escort them to their tables, present menus, suggest courses and wines, and answer menu-related questions politely
  • relay orders to the galley efficiently and serve courses and beverages with care ensuring presentation standards
  • perform additional hospitality duties such as greeting guests during embarkation, serving afternoon teas and snacks, and catering to evening entertainment
  • maintain compliance with grooming and safety standards while working onboard a moving ship
