Job Description

The Westin Phoenix Downtown is a premier hotel located in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona. Currently, The Westin Phoenix Downtown is seeking a part-time Food and Beverage Server to join their dynamic team. This non-management role is essential in delivering excellent dining experiences to guests by providing attentive service and ensuring careful attention to their needs. The Food and Beverage Server will be responsible for serving food courses and alcoholic beverages according to the event’s standards, maintaining dining and work areas, and utilizing the MICROS system to accurately record transactions. This position requires clear communication with both guests and kitchen staff to address menu questions, dietary restrictions, and special requests, ensuring a smooth and personalized dining experience.

The role places a significant emphasis on upholding safety and security policies, maintaining professional appearance, and fostering positive guest interactions at all times. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • at least 1 year of related work experience
  • ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance
  • ability to reach overhead and below knees including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
  • ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • must maintain a clean and professional appearance
  • willingness to follow all safety and security policies and training
  • no supervisory experience
  • ability to perform other reasonable job duties as requested

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests
  • set tables according to type of event and service standards
  • answer questions on menu selections
  • communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, re-cook orders, and product availability
  • communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • record transactions in MICROS system at time of order
  • check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages
  • maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day
  • complete closing duties including restocking items and turning off lights
  • present physical and accurate check to guest and process payment
