The role of Sr Coordinator, Transportation at US Foods is a vital part of the transportation and logistics team, focused on supporting the division's transportation and backhaul functions through clerical activities and process management. This position involves managing various transportation metrics, handling communications with drivers, sales representatives, and customers, and ensuring the operational flow of transportation routes and schedules. The coordinator will be responsible for using specialized software tools to maintain and update reports concerning attendance, delivery windows, driver logs, and other key transportation documents. In addition, this role supports logistics operations by scheduling pick-up appointments, managing backhaul communications, and assisting in resolving damages and shorts issues through vendor and driver coordination.

The position is full-time with a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Offering a competitive weekly salary of $25 per hour, the role also includes various benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401K, and life insurance, combined with a strong safety culture to ensure employee well-being. The work environment primarily consists of an office setting but may require occasional presence in warehouse areas including coolers and freezers where temperatures can reach as low as -5 degrees. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. A minimum of two years of clerical or warehouse administrative experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and basic problem-solving skills are essential to succeed in this position.

Job Duties

  • Answer all incoming calls to resolve driver, sales representative and customer issues as needed
  • Communicate with drivers any updates to their routes
  • Utilize software such as MS Excel, Omnitracs, Tandem, Kronos to create, update and communicate various reports and files for transportation functioning
  • Assist in the damages and shorts process by notifying vendors and drivers and completing paperwork
  • Communicate key information to support backhaul and transportation operations including backhaul arrivals and schedule changes
  • Support logistics by scheduling all pick-up appointments for backhaul orders and vendors and completing related paperwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager
