The Professional Development Program (PDP) at the University at Albany's Rockefeller College operates as a vital resource dedicated to enhancing workforce capabilities through comprehensive education and training initiatives. This esteemed program is committed to delivering high-quality professional development services that align with contemporary public welfare policies and administrative needs. Situated in Albany, New York, PDP's Department of Temporary Assistance Training serves as an essential arm of this endeavor, focusing on the training and development of personnel involved in social service delivery systems throughout the state. The University at Albany itself is recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and fostering an inclusive environment where diversity and professional growth are highly valued.
The Senior Trainer position within the Professional Development Program is a pivotal role geared toward advancing the quality and delivery of statewide training programs targeted at adult learners. This full-time role demands a passionate and service-oriented individual who thrives in both independent and collaborative settings. Working under the direction of the Department Manager or designee, the Senior Trainer will lead professional education and training teams, ensuring curriculum and training materials meet stringent quality standards and reflect the latest in adult education methodologies. This position involves both in-person classroom training delivered across New York State and virtual training via online platforms, utilizing contemporary e-learning technologies such as webinars.
The responsibilities extend to the meticulous planning and development of curricula designed to enhance the effectiveness of performance-based training programs. This includes researching and drafting instructional materials, both print and digital, with a strong focus on accessibility and engagement. The Senior Trainer also acts as a master trainer and liaison to project sponsors, playing a crucial role in coaching, mentoring, and providing leadership to training staff. Monitoring the quality and consistency of training deliveries, assessing training needs, and utilizing evaluation data to improve programs and delivery methods are key aspects of the position.
Record-keeping and reporting are integral to this role, ensuring that all training activities comply with established procedures and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives. The position also requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a shared resource setting, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Applicants for this role should anticipate travel throughout New York State to deliver training sessions and attend meetings, including locations that may not be accessible by public transportation. The job offers an annual salary range of $70,000 to $72,500 and is administered by The Research Foundation for The State University of New York, a private nonprofit organization that manages sponsored programs for the University at Albany. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
The Senior Trainer role is ideal for professionals seeking to contribute their expertise in adult education, social services, and workforce development within a dynamic and supportive academic environment. The University at Albany emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, encouraging applicants who can foster inclusive relationships and promote positive interactions within a diverse community.
