The Test Engineering Technician role at AMD is focused on supporting the development of cutting-edge GPU technology within a dynamic lab environment. This position plays a critical part in driving the local execution of standardized workflows by working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in Services and Engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in semiconductor chip technology and significant hands-on experience in lab settings. As a Test Engineering Technician, you will undertake a diverse range of responsibilities, including managing server upgrades, repairs, and automated OS provisioning processes. You will oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server and coolant platforms, conducting diagnostics according to AMD's standardized procedures. Your role will also involve executing reliability testing protocols such as shock and vibration, electromagnetic compatibility interference (EMCI), and temperature cycling. Critical to this position is the ability to communicate effectively, report incidents promptly, and contribute to a positive team environment by participating in meetings and sharing knowledge.

In addition to technical expertise, the role requires physical capability to handle tools and equipment safely, including lifting up to 35 pounds, climbing ladders, and adhering to safety protocols involving personal protective and ESD gear. The work environment is fast-paced and project-driven, requiring a motivated, detail-oriented individual dedicated to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

AMD values experience with server hardware and racks, IT cabling management, X-ray scopes, and component-level work. Candidates with prior experience testing and troubleshooting semiconductor GPUs, switches, and CPUs in data center labs will find this role a perfect match. Familiarity with software tools such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint (including pivot tables), and Windows Server operating systems is also highly desirable. Knowledge of Linux PXE services, scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash, and Surface Mount Technology (SMT) soldering further enhance candidate suitability.

The academic qualifications preferred include an Associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or equivalent experience. Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+, Server+, MCP, or MSCE strengthen candidacy. Located in Secaucus, NJ, this position offers two shifts: 1st shift from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM ET, and 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM ET.
