The Senior Tableau Developer role at Citi is a pivotal position within the Technology division, specifically under the Applications Development family. Based in Irving, Texas, this full-time role offers a competitive salary range between $107,120 and $160,680 annually, alongside Citi's extensive employee benefits such as medical, dental, vision coverage, 401(k) plans, life and disability insurance, and paid time off. Ideal candidates will possess over five years of enterprise BI development experience, preferably with consulting backgrounds, and have robust technical expertise in designing and deploying large-scale business intelligence solutions. In this role, the developer will manage the entire lifecycle of Tableau analytics dashboards and Tableau Prep flows, including gathering business requirements, creating functional specifications, prototyping, development, quality assurance, user acceptance testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancements.

The Senior Tableau Developer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing advanced reporting and analytics dashboards using Tableau integrated with backend technologies such as Sybase and Big Data platforms. They will consolidate data from diverse sources, perform cleansing and blending, and optimize datasets for impactful visualizations. Performance optimization is critical in this role, involving tasks such as accelerating dashboard load times, enhancing data retrieval, maintaining efficient Tableau extracts, and automating extract refresh processes especially for large data volumes. The developer will also handle Tableau server administration on Linux environments, including installation, upgrades, and content deployment using automated workflows.

Collaboration and problem-solving are essential aspects of the position. The Senior Tableau Developer will assist with prioritizing bugs, feature improvements, and architectural advancements while actively troubleshooting data integrity, visualization accuracy, and dashboard performance issues. Expertise in SQL is vital for query tuning, stored procedures, and managing complex database queries to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy in reporting. Additionally, the role demands innovation in identifying automation opportunities to streamline business processes. The developer must be experienced with Tableau APIs and able to provide technical leadership in architecture, design, and implementation aspects of BI solutions.

This position demands a deep understanding of both structured and unstructured data management, including experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/university degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise BI development
  • Experience with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep
  • Knowledge of Tableau administration and architecture
  • Experience in relational database management application development
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse design
  • Ability to write complex SQL and tune queries
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise BI development, preferably from a consulting background
  • Strong background in designing and implementing enterprise scale solutions
  • Solid hands-on experience with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server and Tableau Prep
  • Thorough knowledge of Tableau administration and architecture
  • Hands-on experience in relational database management application development
  • Strong experience in data mart / data warehouse design
  • Experience in timeseries or no SQL database is highly preferred
  • Experience with relational databases Oracle, SQL server, Sybase, MongoDB
  • Experience in managing unstructured data
  • Experience in writing complex SQL, Stored Procedures and SQL Query tuning
  • Clear understanding of query plan management

Job Duties

  • Develop, maintain, and manage advanced reporting, analytics dashboards and other BI solutions
  • Design and develop solutions using Tableau dashboards using Sybase / Big Data as backend technologies
  • Integrate data from various sources into Tableau
  • Conduct data cleansing, blending, and aggregation to prepare datasets for visualization
  • Monitor and enhance the performance of Tableau dashboards and data sources, ensuring rapid load times and intuitive user experiences
  • Optimize data extracts and ensure efficient data retrieval and performance on Tableau dashboards
  • Maintain, test and schedule refresh of Tableau extracts
  • Devise process for trigger-based automation of Tableau extract refresh for large volumes (TB) of data
  • Create scripts for automating Tableau extract refresh
  • Assist with prioritization of bugs, feature work, and architectural enhancements
  • Design Tableau APIs as required
  • Provide technical expertise in areas of architecture, design, and implementation
  • Troubleshoot and remediate issues related to data integrity, visualization accuracy, and dashboard performance
  • Fine tune SQL Queries for maximum efficiency and performance
  • Conduct unit tests and develop database queries to analyze the defects and troubleshoot any issues
  • Manage Tableau Server and Administration on Linux Server including Tableau server upgrade/installation
  • Manage Tableau content deployments end-to-end using automated solutions
  • Find the key areas of automation to make the business processes smooth
