Job Description

Montefiore Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare institution known for its clinical excellence, innovative research, and commitment to patient-centered care. Established over 100 years ago, Montefiore has continuously pushed boundaries in the medical field, providing advanced treatments and fostering the development of future medical professionals. Its reputation is solidified through consistent ranking among the top hospitals both nationally and regionally by U.S. News & World Report. In addition to its commitment to delivering outstanding medical outcomes, Montefiore stands out for its diverse workforce, with associates speaking over 60 different languages, reflecting an inclusive and multicultural environment.

Montefiore's IT Infrastructure team is at the forefront of enterprise cloud transformation, focusing on leveraging both on-premise data centers and cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure to enhance operational efficiency, security, and scalability across the organization. The team seeks a highly skilled Senior Systems/Server Engineer to join this dynamic area. This new position is crucial in designing, deploying, supporting, and optimizing complex server-based solutions to meet the extensive needs of the medical center. With a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, this role offers a competitive salary range between $120,000 and $150,000 annually.

The Senior Systems/Server Engineer plays a vital role in maintaining the core infrastructure platforms that support enterprise applications, clinical systems, and critical backend operations. Responsibilities include managing both physical and virtual server environments running Windows and Linux operating systems. The position requires expertise in virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and involves administering essential IT infrastructure components like storage, backup systems, patch management tools, monitoring, and logging solutions. Although the primary focus is on-premise server engineering, the role requires limited but essential knowledge of AWS cloud services to support the organization's hybrid infrastructure needs effectively.

This role demands a proactive approach toward securing, stabilizing, and optimizing server environments. The engineer will collaborate closely with cybersecurity teams to enforce compliance policies and remediate vulnerabilities. Key responsibilities encompass managing server lifecycle activities such as provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning, as well as supporting disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives. Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues rapidly to minimize business disruption is a critical aspect of the role. Additionally, the Senior Systems/Server Engineer will provide guidance and technical support to application teams, infrastructure groups, and third-party partners, ensuring seamless integration and operation of server environments.

Documentation is essential to this role, covering server builds, operational standards, support processes, and infrastructure diagrams. The successful candidate will be actively involved in project planning and execution to ensure timely delivery of server infrastructure solutions that align with organizational goals and budgets. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced professional to contribute meaningfully to a leading healthcare system’s infrastructure transformation and ongoing operational excellence.
