The role also extends to participation in system procurement and providing technical guidance to help select systems that align with organizational standards. Key responsibilities include adhering to established team and organizational policies, meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and mentoring junior team members. This is a critical role for maintaining operational continuity and advancing technology initiatives at the Port.

Candidates for this role should have at least four years of experience in information technology and a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or business administration is preferred. The ideal applicant has strong communication skills, advanced analytical capabilities, and expertise in networking protocols, programming languages, database platforms, and scripting technologies. Knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies, alongside virtualization and server technologies, is required. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility and potential requirements for shifts during emergencies or weekends. The Port requires employees to establish and maintain Washington State residency and pass several security background checks including TSA, FBI, and CJIS.

The Port of Seattle offers a rich benefits program including medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid vacation and sick leave; generous holidays; pension and retirement plans; subsidies for commuting; parental leave; and opportunities for professional development.
