Job Description

Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital is a state-of-the-art, full-service acute care hospital located at the intersection of Interstate 45 and Texas State Highway 242. Opened in June 2017, this 725,000-square-foot medical facility offers comprehensive healthcare services similar to those found at the flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center. The campus also houses two medical office buildings that provide specialized care in areas such as breast care, cancer treatment, infusion therapy, heart and vascular services, neurology, orthopedics and sports medicine, rehabilitation, wellness services, and diagnostic laboratories. In January 2022, the hospital expanded with the addition of the Healing Tower, a $250 million project that increased capacity by 106 beds and introduced nine new operating rooms. This expansion focuses on enhancing medical-surgical and women's health services, alongside upgrades to the endoscopy center, emergency department, and diagnostic imaging, including neurodiagnostic and interventional services. Houston Methodist is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and fostering a collaborative work environment, guided by the core values of compassion, integrity, and excellence.

The Sr Surgical Technologist (Labor & Delivery) at Houston Methodist The Woodlands plays an essential role in supporting operating room functions during vaginal delivery and surgical procedures. This part-time night shift position demands a surgical technologist with advanced knowledge and skills to work independently, anticipating the needs of surgeons and nursing staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care. In addition to performing typical surgical technologist duties, this senior role includes mentoring and guiding less experienced surgical technologists. The incumbent is responsible for non-nursing functions that support patient care and department maintenance, adhering to Houston Methodist’s emphasis on relationship-centered care. This role involves preparing the operating room, supporting obstetrical procedures such as vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and other related surgeries, assisting with surgical counts and instrument care, and maintaining sterile technique. The Sr Surgical Technologist also contributes to department quality improvement, cost efficiency, and staff development. This position requires certification and the ability to perform complex procedural support in a dynamic clinical environment. Houston Methodist offers a supportive workplace culture committed to professional growth and collaboration, making it an ideal workplace for healthcare professionals who want to make a significant impact in women’s surgical care.
