In this role, Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Structural CADD Designer to join its Transportation & Bridge practice located in the Columbia, SC area. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact transportation engineering projects significantly while mentoring emerging CADD professionals. As a Senior Structural CADD Designer, the ideal candidate will use leading industry platforms such as MicroStation, GeoPak, and OpenBridge Modeler to produce detailed structural plans for bridges and other transportation structures. This role emphasizes close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure design documentation aligns with best practices and project standards.

Additionally, the Senior Structural CADD Designer will take on a leadership role by overseeing project workflows and configuring CADD software to enhance productivity and compliance with production standards. The role involves designing and facilitating training programs for both new hires and existing staff, providing technical support and mentorship to drafting and engineering teams, and independently creating, revising, and reviewing engineering drawings and plan sets. The designer will reference technical manuals to maintain adherence to company and client standards, including the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT). Furthermore, the position requires identifying and resolving design inconsistencies and collaborating with multiple teams to ensure the delivery of precise, coordinated engineering deliverables.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $110,000, depending on education, qualifications, experience, skill set, and physical work location. Candidates with substantial experience in transportation engineering, structural and bridge detailing, and proficiency in MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenBridge Modeler, and Microsoft Office 365 are highly encouraged to apply. Additional preferred qualifications include knowledge of 3D modeling, familiarity with AutoDesk Civil 3D, AutoDesk Land Desktop, GIS software, and a comprehensive understanding of drafting standards and engineering principles.
