Job Description
United Airlines is a leading global airline committed to connecting people and uniting the world through exceptional travel experiences. As one of the largest airlines in the United States, United Airlines offers an extensive route network that spans across continents, providing passengers with unparalleled access to destinations worldwide. The company is dedicated not only to delivering excellence in air travel but also to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture where employees are empowered to grow their careers and achieve their goals. United Airlines values innovation, teamwork, and dedication, creating lasting connections with both its workforce and its customers. The company offers competitive salaries, comprehensive health and wellness benefits, and opportunities for professional development and travel, making it an attractive employer for individuals seeking a dynamic and fulfilling career in the airline industry.
The Senior Specialist role at United Airlines is a pivotal position within the Talent Acquisition team, focused on leading the strategy, planning, and execution of medium to large scale enterprise events that support the company’s talent acquisition, recruiting, employer branding, and employee engagement objectives. This role is responsible for managing complex hiring conferences, aviation industry events, leadership engagements, and other external partner activations designed to showcase United's unique culture and attract top talent. Working cross-functionally with internal business leaders, Talent Acquisition, and external vendors, the Senior Specialist serves as a trusted project manager who builds strong relationships, drives innovative event strategies, and delivers measurable outcomes aligned with enterprise recruiting priorities and business objectives.
This position requires deep expertise in event planning and management, including vendor coordination, stakeholder engagement, project management, and budget oversight. The Senior Specialist will handle the full lifecycle of events—from initial design and logistics to execution and follow-up—ensuring high-impact experiences that elevate United’s brand awareness within the aviation talent community. The role demands the ability to manage multiple complex events simultaneously and to solve challenging event and engagement issues creatively and efficiently. Given the nature of events, occasional travel up to 40% is required, as well as the physical capability to handle event setup and breakdown.
United Airlines offers this role with a hybrid working arrangement that includes approximately 50% onsite work at their Chicago office location and 50% remote work when not traveling. The base salary for this position ranges from $81,795 to $106,602 annually, depending on qualifications and experience, with eligibility for bonus and long-term incentive compensation awards. Employees in this role will also enjoy a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life, accident and disability insurance, paid time off, parental leave, commuter benefits, and flight privileges.
Candidates for the Senior Specialist position should have at least two years of experience leading medium to large scale events, excellent project and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to leverage generative AI tools effectively to enhance research, content creation, and problem-solving within the event planning process. Experience with Microsoft 365 products and familiarity with project management and event planning software such as Asana, Hive, and Cvent are highly preferred. United Airlines is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and provides reasonable accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities. Individuals who want to contribute to defining the future of air travel through innovative talent acquisition strategies are invited to join United Airlines and help create what’s next, together.
