Job Description
Bon Appetit Management Company is a leading contract food service provider dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences through creativity, innovation, and outstanding service. Known for steering clear of corporate recipe books and centralized commissaries, the company empowers its chefs and managers to stay ahead of culinary trends and incorporate fresh, cutting-edge dishes into their menus. The company operates multiple accounts across various settings, including universities, corporate dining, and hospitality venues, providing a dynamic work environment with abundant opportunities for professional growth and development. Bon Appetit fosters a culture where creativity, risk-taking, and continuous learning are encouraged, enabling staff to truly shine and elevate the dining experience for guests.
The Senior Sous Chef position at Bon Appetit, located at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, offers a unique opportunity within one of the nation's premier creative university environments. With a salary range of $60,000 to $73,000 per year, this role supports the Executive Chef in managing daily culinary operations and delivering innovative dining programs that reflect the vibrant, artistic atmosphere of SCAD. The Senior Sous Chef will lead kitchen teams, oversee food preparation, and ensure that high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation are met across all dining and catering services on campus.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment where creativity is celebrated and entrepreneurial spirit is welcomed. Responsibilities include menu development, seasonal culinary programming, and the execution of high-quality catering events and special campus functions. The Senior Sous Chef will also be heavily involved in managing food costs, labor controls, inventory, and waste reduction to optimize operational efficiency. Collaboration with culinary and marketing teams to launch new dining concepts and wellness initiatives is a key aspect of the role.
Bon Appetit places a strong emphasis on leadership and team development. The Senior Sous Chef is expected to mentor and develop hourly culinary associates while fostering a positive, collaborative kitchen culture. Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including HACCP, is critical to maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment. This role requires staying current with emerging food trends, global cuisine influences, and modern hospitality practices to continually elevate SCAD's dining offerings.
This position also offers exciting benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, holiday time off, and various wellness programs. Employees can take advantage of associate shopping programs, identity theft protection, commuter benefits, employee assistance programs, and flexible spending accounts. Additional perks such as pet insurance, paid parental leave, and personal leave reflect Bon Appetit's commitment to supporting its employees in and outside of the workplace.
Bon Appetit is a member of Compass Group USA and maintains a drug-free workplace, offering equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without discrimination. This role demands strong leadership skills, culinary expertise, and a passion for hospitality innovation to create memorable dining experiences within SCAD’s dynamic campus setting. Candidates must be able to perform essential functions, possibly with reasonable accommodations, and may be subject to background screening as required.
