The company operates through three market-leading businesses, making significant investments in research and development to push the boundaries of science and technology. It is committed to creating a future where aerospace and defense systems are more connected, secure, and efficient, essentially shaping the global landscape of security and defense.

Raytheon’s Software Security Sensors and Effectors (S3E) Department in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Senior Software Security Engineer. This role is based onsite at RTX’s Tucson campus, a location known for its innovative spirit as well as a vibrant, scenic environment characterized by beautiful mountains and a favorable climate with over 310 sunny days annually. RTX offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health care, retirement plans, flexible schedules, parental leave, and career development opportunities.

The Senior Software Security Engineer will play an essential role in the development of world-class security software embedded in deployed missile systems. This position requires a deep understanding of real-time software design and its performance impacts, particularly within system security contexts. Using advanced programming languages such as C and C++, the engineer will engage with embedded systems development on platforms including, but not limited to, Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSoC and Versal processors. The successful candidate will be responsible for application and embedded software design, integration, and testing in support of real-time missile software systems.

The role demands collaboration with the Systems Security Engineering team to design, implement, and validate security requirements directly impacting missile system efficacy and safety. It involves detailed source code review and development with a focus on system-level security principles. The engineer will work closely with customers to ensure that software solutions meet stringent security and operational standards.

Candidates must hold at least a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and have a minimum of five years of relevant software experience. Prior knowledge and hands-on experience with embedded operating systems like VxWorks, Embedded Linux, or similar, alongside familiarity with security concepts tailored for Department of Defense programs, are highly valued. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Defense Department security clearance before the start date are mandatory for this position due to its national security implications.

RTX’s culture embraces innovation, diversity, and inclusion, making it an employer of choice for professionals passionate about aerospace and defense technologies. By joining RTX, the Senior Software Security Engineer will contribute to pioneering solutions that protect freedoms and advance national security. Tucson’s location offers an exceptional quality of life and professional growth within a globally recognized industry leader’s supportive and dynamic environment.
