This particular opportunity is for a Senior Software Security Engineer located onsite in El Segundo, California. The successful candidate will join RTX’s Software Product Assurance team, focusing on embedded program protection and cybersecurity across various defense-related programs. The role demands active participation in the design, development, integration, and testing of real-time sensor software, with an emphasis on software security principles embedded within systems architecture. The position requires expertise in C and C++ development and familiarity with embedded operating systems like VxWorks or Embedded Linux.

The engineer will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to implement secure software solutions that meet stringent defense standards. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with software product assurance processes, engaging with customers for technical design reviews, and supporting system maturity verification. The position is critical to the deployment of sensor systems on multiple platforms aimed at enhancing defense capabilities.

Eligibility for this role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance at the secret level from the Department of Defense. RTX provides relocation assistance and a competitive salary range between $95,500 and $181,700, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline
  • minimum 5 years of experience in software development
  • expertise in C and C++ programming languages
  • experience with embedded processors such as Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSoC or Versal
  • knowledge of embedded operating systems including VxWorks and Embedded Linux
  • embedded software security knowledge and application
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret security clearance

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 5 years relevant software development experience
  • proficiency in C and C++ programming languages
