Joining this dynamic environment is the DevOps Platform Team, focused on creating and maintaining shared security infrastructures, governance tools, and enterprise-wide automation at scale. Emphasizing production quality and exceptional engineering standards, this team builds security automation tools and systems designed to enhance focus on critical risk areas for the business.

The role of Senior Security Engineer - Software Engineer is a pivotal position within the Security Development and Design team. It centers on protecting the company network and assets against security threats by developing and implementing security automation capabilities. Responsibilities include architecting and managing code deployment pipelines using GitLab or similar CI/CD tools, optimizing security tool deployments with scalable integration across cybersecurity functions, and collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional teams to support a wide range of security programs. This position also requires designing and maintaining secure platforms to host applications, developing incident response runbooks, implementing application monitoring solutions, and contributing to technical decision-making by engaging stakeholders throughout the organization.

The Senior Security Engineer will take ownership of security automation projects, driving innovation and process improvements in line with Disney’s enterprise security goals. They will research and evaluate new technologies and security tools, ensuring the team’s capabilities remain at the forefront of the industry. This role demands a blend of strong scripting skills, familiarity with infrastructure as code tools, and proficiency in handling complex distributed systems with confidentiality and security best practices in mind.

This position offers a competitive salary range based on location, with Seattle, WA ranging from $135,400 to $181,600, Burbank, CA from $129,300 to $173,300, and Orlando, FL from $123,100 to $165,100 annually. Compensation also includes eligibility for bonuses or long-term incentive units and access to a comprehensive range of benefits covering medical, financial, and other professional perks. The base pay will be determined based on factors such as internal equity, geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, software, electrical or electronics engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting languages like python, bash, and powershell to build reliable automation
  • strong knowledge of opensearch, postgresql, and data storage platforms including optimization techniques
  • proficient with infrastructure as code tools such as cloudformation, terraform, azure resource manager, google deployment manager
  • experience managing multi-environment deployments

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study
  • 5+ years of experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, and PowerShell with ability to build reliable automation
  • Strong knowledge of OpenSearch, PostgreSQL, and other data storage platforms including basic optimization techniques
  • Proficient knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, Google Deployment Manager with experience managing multi-environment deployments
  • Proven ability to learn and maintain cutting-edge skills across multiple technical areas including Unix/Linux, Application Security, Vulnerability Management
  • Experience with deployment of new software and maintenance of deployed software in production environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot distributed systems
  • Proven ability to design solutions for complex problems and contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • Experience handling confidential information and understanding of security best practices
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Security preferred
  • Strong expertise in Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) with experience in cloud architecture preferred
  • Proficiency in Terraform with experience managing infrastructure across environments preferred
  • Python/YAML/JSON with backend development experience preferred
  • Designing and implementing CICD pipelines through Jenkins, GitLab, or other enterprise tools preferred
  • Container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) and orchestration concepts preferred
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC2, ISO 27001, NIST) preferred
  • Security scanning tools integration and vulnerability management platforms preferred
  • Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) preferred
  • Understanding of network security concepts and implementation preferred

Job Duties
