Job Description
Aparium Hotel Group is an innovative hospitality company founded in 2011 that prioritizes people, place, and character in its hotel experiences. Known for its unique approach to hospitality, Aparium celebrates individuality and the communities where its hotels operate, creating environments that foster pride among associates and guests alike. Aparium seamlessly blends the charm and intimacy of boutique hotels with the business acumen of larger hospitality brands. The company has established a strong reputation for venturing off the traditional path in both geographic and philosophical terms, focusing on smaller, vibrant markets. Recognized globally, Aparium Hotel Group is lauded for its distinctive, spirited hotel experiences that make each location a meaningful part of its neighborhood.
Hotel Heron, managed by Aparium Hotel Group, is a stylish 134-room hotel located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, a historic and culturally-rich district just minutes from Washington, DC. This hotel offers guests a unique vantage point into the city’s renaissance, combining historic charm with modern amenities. Originally opened in 1926 as the George Mason Hotel, Hotel Heron has been thoughtfully transformed into a property that marries its historic roots with contemporary features including elegant event spaces, a signature Mid-Atlantic cuisine restaurant, a cozy craft cocktail bar, and a seasonal rooftop bar with scenic Potomac River views. The hotel’s amenities extend to a state-of-the-art fitness center and versatile meeting spaces designed to cater to social, work, and leisure activities, making it an inviting destination for world travelers and local residents alike. The property highlights Alexandria’s rich legacy, local artisans, and its innovative spirit, reflecting Aparium’s commitment to community integration and character.
The Senior Sales Manager role at Hotel Heron plays a critical part in driving the hotel’s revenue and market share growth. Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, this exempt position demands a proactive and skilled sales professional who excels in networking, contract negotiation, and strategic market development. The focus is on increasing business from the SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, Fraternal), leisure government, and entertainment sectors. The Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, maintaining and expanding relationships with existing clients, and applying a nuanced understanding of competitive market dynamics and hotel sales strategies.
Aparium’s sales philosophy combines the art and science of hospitality sales, emphasizing collaboration, respect, integrity, and intuition. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-energy environment and is motivated by achieving financial targets and being number one in their market. They work closely with clients, peers, and leadership to cultivate transparent, trusting relationships while promoting an inclusive and ego-free culture. The role involves substantial client engagement through presentations, site tours, business reviews, and participation in community and industry events.
Key responsibilities include negotiating rates and contracts, maintaining detailed account records in sales systems like Delphi FDC, Salesforce, Knowland, and CVENT, and conducting competitive analysis to adapt pricing and sales strategies. The Senior Sales Manager will also coordinate with hotel departments to ensure seamless service for clients and contribute to strategic initiatives such as annual business case development and sales action planning.
Hotel Heron and Aparium Hotel Group are committed to equal employment opportunities, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a sense of belonging for all employees. As part of an independent franchise, employment terms, including salary and benefits, are managed by the franchisee. This role offers a unique chance to join a forward-thinking hospitality company at a distinctive property where sales excellence and community engagement go hand in hand.
