The role of Senior Regional Maintenance & Reliability Manager at Smithfield Foods is a critical leadership position focused on transforming plant operations across multiple facilities. This role is responsible for driving reliability excellence by designing and implementing best-in-class maintenance strategies, including predictive and preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, and asset health optimization. The Senior Regional Maintenance & Reliability Manager will lead and develop high-performing engineering, reliability, and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety throughout the organization.

This position plays a vital role in solving complex operational challenges by acting as the technical leader who ensures plants can effectively troubleshoot major outages, eliminate recurring failures, and implement durable solutions. The manager will also take charge of capital planning and innovation, leading business case development and execution to align investments with strategic operational priorities. Collaboration across business units such as Operations, Food Safety, Quality, and Safety is essential to drive improved outcomes and consistent execution across all facilities.

This role requires extensive knowledge of engineering principles, particularly within food processing and meat industry environments, coupled with strong project management and contract administration skills. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, along with over eight years of relevant experience and at least two years in team management or project leadership. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and engineering economics are also essential. The role demands a willingness to travel extensively, up to 50% of the time, to engage with various locations and teams. With a salary range of $128,000 to $192,125 and relocation packages available, this position offers a rewarding career path for motivated individuals passionate about making a measurable difference at scale while upholding safety and quality standards.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university in engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management or project leadership
  • ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues
  • must possess project management skills
  • contract administration skills
  • national codes and standards interpretation skills
  • proficient in engineering economics
  • proficient in AutoCAD
  • proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • energized by collaboration through travel to other locations (50% of the time)
