Job Description
KMM is a precision manufacturing company specializing in the production of highly complex mission-critical components used across various advanced industries including medical devices, aerospace, defense, space exploration, and other technology-driven sectors. Their manufacturing process emphasizes accuracy, traceability, and quality, ensuring that every part produced not only meets inspection standards but also performs reliably when it matters most. KMM operates as an ITAR-registered facility, underscoring its commitment to regulatory compliance and security within defense-related manufacturing environments. Employees at KMM benefit from a technologically advanced, clean, and well-organized workplace where quality is integrated into every stage of production rather than being an afterthought. The company fosters a culture where the judgment, experience, and insights of quality professionals are highly valued, enabling a proactive approach to quality management that prevents problems before reaching customers.
The Senior Quality Inspector / Quality Control Technician Level 3 role at KMM demands expertise in inspecting precision machined parts with a deep understanding of metrology and complex manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience in inspecting components produced by CNC machining, grinding, EDM, Swiss machining, and other tight-tolerance manufacturing methods. This role functions as a technical resource on the production floor, partnering closely with machinists, engineers, and production leaders to resolve quality concerns at their source. Responsibilities include performing first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections using advanced metrology tools such as CMMs, vision systems, profilometers, and various precision gauges. The inspector must interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements conforming to ASME Y14.5 standards.
This position emphasizes more than simply pass/fail inspection; it requires a problem-solving mindset and the ability to analyze inspection data to support process capability evaluations, trend analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Quality Inspector will contribute to maintaining ISO 13485, AS9100, FDA, and internal quality system compliance through detailed documentation, nonconformance reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes. Mentorship of junior quality technicians and active participation in audit preparations, SOP improvements, and inspection planning are important aspects of the role.
Candidates should possess strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills, experience with regulated quality environments, and the ability to communicate inspection findings effectively across organizational levels. Preferred qualifications include experience with CMM programming, Zeiss Calypso software, video inspection systems like Keyence IM Series or OGP, and prior involvement in quality system activities such as FAI, PPAP, control plans, and CAPA processes. The work involves physical demands such as standing for long periods, operating measuring instruments, material handling, and working safely around manufacturing equipment while adhering to PPE guidelines.
KMM offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, life and disability coverage, paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, professional development programs, and dedicated HR and training support. The company values a collaborative and quality-driven culture where employees are "Paid to Think" — encouraging them to use their skills and judgment in ensuring the highest standards of precision and reliability. For experienced quality inspectors and metrology technicians seeking ownership, technical challenges, and meaningful work in a high-precision manufacturing environment, KMM represents a rewarding career opportunity.
