Job Description
Hexium Inc. is a forward-thinking company dedicated to reviving America's isotope enrichment capabilities by modernizing the Atomic Vapor Laser Isotope Separation (AVLIS) technology into a scalable industrial enrichment platform. Hexium's approach integrates cutting-edge laser isotope separation methods with advanced research and industrial facility design to create a robust infrastructure for enriched isotopes essential to various high-tech applications. As a pioneering player in this specialized field, Hexium invests heavily in the development and deployment of radiological-grade industrial facilities that set new standards for safety, precision, and functionality. The company is committed to innovation, regulatory compliance, and sustainable industrial growth, positioning itself at the forefront of isotope enrichment technology in the United States.
The Senior Project Manager role at Hexium is a pivotal position responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of licensed, radiological-grade industrial facilities essential to ongoing research and manufacturing advancements. This position demands a skilled hands-on project management expert who will act as Hexium's Owner's Representative. The Senior Project Manager will personally lead site selection, lease negotiations, detailed facility design, construction oversight, and final facility commissioning. This is not a program management or team leadership role initially, but a direct management role focused on driving individual projects from inception through to successful completion.
The candidate will oversee coordination of architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure the facility integrates radiological confinement ventilation, specialized laboratories, manufacturing spaces, and all supporting infrastructure needed for advanced laser isotope separation. Responsibilities include managing budgets, scheduling, contractor coordination, site oversight, design reviews, and permitting processes. The Senior Project Manager will ensure construction quality aligns with Hexium's rigorous standards and all applicable Texas building codes. They will also manage facility compliance documentation essential for radioactive materials licensing and regulatory requirements.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of MEP scopes such as power, compressed gas, vacuum systems, cooling water, and process drains, along with direct interaction with regulatory teams to ensure the facility meets licensing conditions. The role includes managing fit-out of complex laboratory equipment setups and the establishment of classified manufacturing areas requiring specialized access controls and compartmented workspaces. The Senior Project Manager will also lead commissioning efforts, ensuring punch list closure, obtaining occupancy certifications, and coordinating radiological baseline surveys before operational start.
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or closely related fields, combined with over 5 years of project management experience in construction or as an Owner's Representative. Experience with specialized laboratory facilities, industrial or controlled-environment facilities is highly valued. Candidates must be proficient with project management tools like Primavera P6, MS Project, or Wrike, and demonstrate strong skills in managing contractors and subcontractors through design, construction, and fit-out phases. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is a prerequisite due to the role’s exposure to export-controlled information.
Hexium offers competitive compensation and benefits including stock options, paid time off, 401(k) matching, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA and FSA options. The company supports equal employment opportunities and provides reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. Hexium requires employment eligibility verification through E-Verify and conducts background checks as part of its hiring process.
