The Senior Programming & Development Manager for Twitch Rivals is a pivotal role focused on competitive entertainment and creator-driven content within Twitch’s ecosystem. This role requires a deep understanding of esports, gaming culture, and content strategy facilitated through data-driven insights. Reporting to the Director of Production and Events, the manager will closely collaborate with content teams, sales, business development, and community teams to orchestrate engaging and successful Twitch Rivals competitions. Responsibilities include staying attuned to gaming trends, event planning elements, and fostering key partnerships with game publishers and vendors. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands multiple gaming mechanics and competition formats, and can quickly assess new games for potential Twitch Rivals adaptations. Job Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in esports, professional sports, or gaming related events
- Experience working with sales organizations in pre-sale or post-sale roles
- Understanding of different games and gaming mechanics
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to present and pitch programs or products effectively
- Motivated to analyze details and document strategy clearly
Job Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in esports, professional sports, and/or gaming related events
- Worked with sales organizations either in a pre-sale or post-sale capacity ideating or activating unique brand focused ideas
- Experience with a variety of different games and gaming mechanics
- Strong verbal communication and experience presenting and pitching programs or products
- An intrinsic motivation to dig into the details, and understand how to communicate strategy and intent through comprehensive documentation
- Knowledge of the differences between games within similar genres such as tactical FPS vs hero FPS
- Experience using or streaming on Twitch and/or awareness of Twitch’s influence on gaming and culture
- Active following or fandom of favorite streamers
Job Duties
- Develop and program the Twitch Rivals calendar and help produce competitive entertainment that is exciting and satisfying to creators and the gaming communities they love
- Assist in the development of the Twitch Rivals program strategy and ensure the execution is aligned
- Review event data and present opportunities for improvement to the team
- Work with production vendors to ensure they are building events based on pre-determined priorities such as publisher, streamer, and brand
- Write and manage event briefs to ensure the Community Originals team has all the most up-to-date information on a show
- Work with Business Development, Marketing, Partnerships, Public Relations, Broadcast Operations, Analytics, and Sales teams
- Work with Amazon Sales to build pitch decks for brands interested in partnering with Twitch Rivals
- Build relationships with Game Publishers to guarantee a continued mutually beneficial partnership
