With over 20 years of experience in the specialized waste disposal industry, Stericycle integrates its expertise with WM’s extensive resources to provide innovative and sustainable solutions.
The Senior Maintenance Technician role at WM is pivotal to ensuring that plant operations continue smoothly and safely. Reporting to facility leadership, this position is responsible for performing all aspects of maintenance, including preventive, corrective, and emergency repairs on buildings, grounds, and plant machinery. The technician’s work covers a broad range of systems and equipment, from autoclave process systems and air pollution control devices to electrical generator systems and hydraulic components. This role demands high technical skill in diagnostics, repair, and maintenance activities and requires adherence to strict safety protocols such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), confined space entry, fall protection, and electrical safety standards.
The technician is expected to handle light electrical maintenance tasks involving 480V, 240V, 120V, and 24V power systems, as well as work with PLCs, robotics, and control loop systems. Fabrication skills including welding, plasma cutting, and grinding are essential, as is the ability to manage parts inventory and use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for documenting work. The job requires being on-call for emergency repairs, demonstrating a flexible and proactive approach to plant maintenance challenges.
Employees of WM benefit from a competitive pay rate starting at $33 per hour plus overtime, reflecting the technical expertise and responsibility required. The work shift is from Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with the obligation to respond to emergency calls outside normal hours. WM’s commitment to employee well-being is evident through offerings such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, stock purchase options, and assistance with dependent day care. Eligible employees also enjoy paid vacation, holidays, and personal days, ensuring a balance between work and personal life.
Working as a Senior Maintenance Technician at WM means joining a team where safety is paramount, continuous improvement is encouraged, and employee growth is supported through education assistance benefits. The company values individuals capable of meeting the physical demands and safety-sensitive nature of the role, including compliance with drug and alcohol testing as required by regulations. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who take pride in maintaining a safe and efficient facility while contributing to WM’s overarching mission of sustainability and community support.
