Penske Logistics LLC is currently seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join their team in Laredo, Texas. This position plays a vital role in providing hands-on leadership to a workforce of individual contributors and hourly employees, ensuring the seamless execution of daily logistics tasks including driver deliveries, trailer loading and unloading, cross docking, and customer service operations in alignment with company objectives. The Operations Supervisor will directly oversee workforce and equipment scheduling, be responsible for making corrective actions and disciplinary decisions up to a written warning level, and participate in hiring processes and customer meetings as necessary. The role demands a proactive management style to review truck runs, optimize the use of private fleet resources, and manage daily orders to identify potential private fleet opportunities that meet customer needs and cost efficiency goals.

This role requires a committed leadership presence from Monday to Friday, 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, with flexibility to work off-shift hours during peak seasons, holidays, or when the operation is short-staffed. The Operations Supervisor will ensure compliance with financial policies, safety regulations, and company procedures while fostering continuous improvement and a customer-centric culture. Key responsibilities include supervising logistics operations, managing performance standards, addressing attendance and productivity issues, supporting associate training, ensuring fleet efficiency, and maintaining site safety. Job Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years related functional experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Willingness to travel as necessary
  • Ability to work the required schedule and at the specific location required
  • Ability to complete employment application, submit to background investigation and drug screening
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs/12kg
  • Ability to read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, remember and analyze information, and understand instructions or guidelines
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Job Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years related functional experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required

Job Duties

  • Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable
  • Interview hourly associates and provide recommendations for hire
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance markers and provide counseling and/or recognition to associates as needed
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation and procedure control
  • Evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods to increase productivity of dispatch/warehouse operations
  • Assist in new associate training
  • Provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of the site’s operating systems in order to ensure operational compliance and correct exception resolution
  • Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc
  • Understand the relationship between decision-making and profitability
  • Closely manage associates’ working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets
  • Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy
  • Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures
  • Understand the location-specific customer goals & objectives
  • Ensure the customer knows that we are committed to helping them meet their objectives
  • Determine areas that could benefit from continuous improvement efforts
  • Properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet/warehouse equipment
  • Work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipment
  • Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
