GDMS offers highly competitive benefits and prides itself on being a great place to work, sharing a unified sense of purpose to support the nation's security and technological advancement.

The role of Senior Network and Systems Engineer is an exciting opportunity within GDMS's Information Technology - Limited Access Area (LAA) team, part of Engineering Support Services, based at the McLeansville, NC location. This position is foundational in providing day-to-day network and communication security operations and maintenance across multiple secure network infrastructures such as SIPRNet. The Senior Network and Systems Engineer will design, develop, build, and test advanced network solutions, contributing to initiatives that integrate cutting-edge technologies while complying with rigorous project management processes.

This role demands a balance of technical expertise and leadership, as the engineer will lead significant project initiatives, develop network configurations, and manage complex network architectures with multi-level access and security features. Responsibilities also include installing and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, VOIP systems, video teleconferencing setups, and various network and telecommunication components. The position emphasizes the implementation of US government standards such as COMSEC and NIST, including the programming and troubleshooting of KG-175 TACLANE Encryptors.

The Senior Network and Systems Engineer will also support server administration operations, encompassing both physical and virtual systems, handling software installation, permissions management, patching, and performance monitoring using advanced tools. The role requires a deep understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewall policies, authentication systems, and compliance controls like STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and NIST standards. Additionally, the role is integral to maintaining system compliance and securing IT environments within a Department of Defense (DoD) context.

Candidates must possess a DoD Secret security clearance at the time of hire and demonstrate eligibility for accessing classified information. U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the sensitive nature of the work. The ideal candidate will hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field, coupled with significant relevant experience and preferred certifications such as CCNA or CCNP. The salary range for this position is estimated between $126,862 and $137,269 per year, reflective of experience and location-specific factors.

This is a full-time, on-site position requiring a proactive engineer capable of collaborating across diverse teams, managing complex technical challenges, and continuously innovating by identifying opportunities to incorporate artificial intelligence for improvement. The role offers a stimulating career path at the forefront of cyber, RF, undersea, and interstellar technology applications, directly impacting national defense and security priorities.
