This full-time opportunity is for an Oncology Medical Science Liaison (MSL) within BioNTech's Oncology Medical Affairs department, based in the West Coast & Sierra regions of the US, with preferred locations including San Francisco and Las Vegas. The role is essential in bridging the gap between BioNTech and the external medical community by establishing meaningful collaborations with healthcare professionals, scientific opinion leaders, and academic institutions. The chosen candidate will represent BioNTech's oncology solid tumor research and development portfolio and be responsible for delivering evidence-based medical and scientific information.

The Oncology MSL will develop and execute a strategic vision for their designated territory, identifying key accounts and planning impactful medical engagements aligned with BioNTech's objectives. A significant part of the role involves cultivating partnerships with academic centers, centers of excellence, and integrated care systems to enhance regional medical impact. As a vital member of BioNTech's US field-based scientific and medical expert team, the MSL will deliver medical education, provide clinical updates, and obtain critical insights from healthcare professionals. They will also support clinical trial initiatives by identifying and fostering potential trial sites in line with the broader oncology strategy.

To succeed in this role, the candidate must exhibit strong networking capabilities and maintain an established network within the gynecologic malignancies and breast cancer therapeutic areas. Excellent presentation, communication, and collaborative skills are essential, as the role demands cross-functional teamwork and interaction with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Oncology MSL must possess a profound understanding of clinical trials, drug development lifecycles, and regulatory compliance, including Good Clinical Practice guidelines and ethical industry standards.

The position requires frequent travel within the territory, approximately 50-70%, and a valid driver’s license is mandatory. Candidates should be proficient with modern collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other Office 365 applications to facilitate efficient communication and documentation. The role offers a competitive salary range of $146,300 to $234,100 per year, including benefits, an annual bonus, and equity options, which are variable based on company and individual performance.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the territory including mapping key accounts and planning impactful medical engagements aligned with medical objectives
  • cultivate partnerships with academic centers centers of excellence and integrated care systems to drive regional impact
  • act as member of BioNTech's US field-based scientific medical expert team delivering medical education updates and gaining insights from US healthcare professionals
  • develop partnerships with investigators thought leaders and healthcare professionals through scientific evidence-based communication and education
  • support and identify US clinical trial sites and opportunities aligned with the overall oncology strategy
  • document and communicate actionable insights collected in the field to relevant internal stakeholders
  • provide input support and or attendance at prioritized oncology conferences medical educational programs advisory boards and trainings
  • ensure timely and accurate documentation of interactions and compliance and safety reporting aligned with local policies
