The position available is key to driving the success of materials management at one of the company’s manufacturing sites. This on-site managerial role is centered around optimizing materials management, planning strategies, inventory control, and material flow to align with the company’s lean manufacturing environment. With an annual salary range from $113,810 to $183,400, this salary-based role offers incentive eligibility and comes with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees both at work and at home.

The role requires strong leadership skills to manage and organize activities related to material scheduling, purchasing, supplier management, and logistics. It also entails ensuring that all materials standards and inventory planning processes are correctly implemented and adhered to. This includes overseeing compliance with systems such as SIOP, PSI, and cycle counting to facilitate seamless flow from production planning to shipping. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various departments including sourcing, engineering, accounting, marketing, and quality assurance to achieve strategic business goals.

Additionally, the role involves developing strategies to improve underperforming processes and supplier relationships, promoting professional development programs for materials personnel, and supporting global procurement during supplier selection processes. The candidate must be proficient in managing suppliers and inventory using Lean Six Sigma principles and possess the ability to lead and integrate multiple functions to enhance plant material flow and efficiency. The role also includes responsibility for driving APICS certification initiatives within the facility to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Ideal candidates bring over a decade of experience in materials management within manufacturing settings that use lean concepts and MRP practices, as well as extensive managerial experience focused on planning, sourcing, and talent development. The ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while utilizing advanced information systems and maintaining strong interpersonal and communication skills is essential. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • minimum of 10 years of experience in materials management in a manufacturing setting
  • minimum of 5 years of managerial experience
  • experience with lean manufacturing and MRP practices
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • proficiency in computerized integrated information systems for manufacturing and materials management
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments

  • knowledge of visual management systems and JIT manufacturing
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred, MBA preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred
  • minimum of 10 years of experience in integrated functions of materials management in a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts, MRP manufacturing practices, and progressive supplier relationships
  • minimum of 5 years in managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning and execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development
  • experience with rate-based, flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments
  • experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, scheduling, and lean manufacturing processes
  • experience with visual management systems
  • experience with sequenced or JIT time manufacturing shops
  • experience with NPD processes and set-up

Job Duties

  • Primary point of responsibility for materials management, planning strategy, inventory control, and material flow for the site
  • ensures optimization of materials management activities including scheduling, purchasing, inventory planning, supplier performance measurement, and indirect materials management, and logistics
  • responsible for the implementation, support and compliance of the material standards including but not limited to SIOP, PSI, cycle counting, inventory planning processes and systems to facilitate flow from order management production planning to material procurement to shipping
  • facilitates interaction with sourcing, engineering, accounting, marketing, material operations and quality assurance in support of the business’s strategic goals
  • develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers
  • manage suppliers, materials and inventory in a manner consistent with the requirements of a lean six-sigma manufacturing environment
  • engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating
  • organize activities & assigning jobs accordingly to the staff requirements
  • provide required support to global procurement commodity leaders as needed during supplier selection process
  • promote APICS certification within the facility
  • develop and implement a professional development program for materials personnel both hourly and salaried
  • drive improved supplier relationships
  • performs other duties as assigned
