This specific role pertains to the Operations Leader position within Samsung’s LA28 Olympic & Paralympic preparations team. As a vital part of the team, the Operations Leader will play a critical role during the LA28 Olympic Games, ensuring Samsung’s successful partnership and efficient operational presence throughout the event. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of the Samsung LA28 Olympic Office, this role requires overseeing communication, reporting, operational excellence, and rapid problem-solving related to Samsung's strategic objectives during the LA28 Games.

The position is a fixed-term contract expanding through to September 2028. The Operations Leader will manage daily communications across multiple LA28 departments including client services, accommodations, ticketing, showcasing, the media center, Olympic Village, venues, digital, and finance, among others. They will compile information to ensure coordination, manage hotel operations and ticket systems tailored for Olympic Partners, and maintain strong communication lines with Samsung subsidiaries to resolve operational inquiries promptly. Additionally, the Operations Leader will facilitate agenda management for weekly calls with headquarters in Korea and stakeholder meetings.

Other critical responsibilities include supporting research on the Los Angeles landscape, assisting with business-to-business contact preparations, aiding in the approval process for Olympic-related assets such as logos and branding elements, and contributing to technology initiatives and program development. This role demands a candidate with a comprehensive understanding of global sports marketing, especially Olympic marketing, and hospitality management, including hotel and ticket operations. A strong track record in relationship management, project management, and communication skills is essential for success in this role.

Candidates based in California can expect a competitive salary range of $175,000 to $185,000, with actual compensation determined based on experience and skills. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in global sports marketing or Olympic marketing
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and ticket operations
  • Exceptional relationship management skills
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with consumer behavior trends
  • Knowledge of telecom business and mobile devices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with ticketing tools

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in global sports marketing or Olympic marketing such as marketing group of sports team, sports marketing agency, or sponsorship team within a company
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations, ticket operations, and hospitality management
  • Exceptional relationship management and influencing abilities
  • Excellent project management and communications skills
  • Familiarity with consumer behavior trends and strategies to enhance brand preference
  • Familiarity with telecom business and mobile devices
  • Strong event management and presentation skills to influence high-level audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ticketing tools
  • Bilingual in Korean is a plus but not required

Job Duties

  • Manage daily communications with LA28's various departments including client services, accommodations, ticketing, showcasing, media center, Olympic Village, venues, digital, OOH, finance
  • Compile and report all information received from these departments to ensure seamless coordination
  • Review overall hotels in Los Angeles and LA28's contracted hotel list, arrange hotel inspections, prepare inspection reports, and manage Samsung's proprietary Accommodation Management System (AMS)
  • Oversee Samsung's proprietary Competition Ticket Portal (CTP) to manage ticket allocations for Olympic Partners
  • Communicate with Samsung subsidiaries to resolve inquiries and ensure smooth operations
  • Manage agenda for weekly calls with HQ in Korea and meetings with Olympic stakeholders
  • Support research on the Los Angeles landscape including hotels, restaurants, key traffic areas, and event locations
  • Assist with B2B contacts preparation work
  • Support the approval process for Olympic-related assets including logos, marks, designations, and branding elements
  • Support technology initiatives with developing programs and ideas
