Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- six years of experience in event planning hospitality management or other related field
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- six years of experience in event planning hospitality management or related field
- eight or more years of progressively responsible experience in event services or conference operations preferably in higher education or large-scale institutional setting
- experience supervising teams including full-time staff and student workers
- demonstrated experience with budgeting billing and vendor negotiations
- familiarity with university policies and procedures related to facility usage and liability
- ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
- ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including faculty staff students and external partners
- proficient in event management platforms scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite
- ability to prioritize tasks manage competing deadlines and work independently
- demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- knowledge of risk management and liability issues related to events
Job Duties
- Coordinates the full scope of event services including reservations scheduling planning service delivery billing and post-event evaluations
- manages and maintains the School of Public Health events calendar and ensures timely and accurate updates
- oversees event setup logistics and manages event timelines and service schedules
- provides operational support to the Dean's Office team during events and peak activity periods
- ensures compliance with university policies including administration of insurance documents and waivers of liability
- designs documents and implements a comprehensive event strategy aligned with school goals
- develops event-related policies procedures and reporting mechanisms for internal and external stakeholders
- builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and efficiency
- collaborates with internal units and external partners to support recruitment retention and school engagement efforts
- coordinates with the Office of Student Services for integrated event planning that supports retention and recruitment initiatives
- supervises and trains event staff setup crew student workers and part-time staff
- determines staffing needs
- oversees procurement of branded items and promotional materials
- manages inventory
- manages on-line School of Public Health purchasing store
- performs other duties as assigned
