The School of Public Health at Texas A&M University Health Science Center is seeking a Senior Manager, Event Services, to join their team in Bryan, Texas. This is a full-time staff position offering a salary that will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s education and experience. The role is pivotal in managing and supervising centralized conference services, including the design, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive event strategy for the department it supports. The Senior Manager, Event Services, will coordinate the full range of event services such as reservations, scheduling, service delivery, billing, and evaluations. They will maintain the School's events calendar, ensure operational compliance with university policies regarding facility usage and liability, and provide leadership to both full-time and student staff involved in event execution.

This position requires strong multitasking capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines while working independently. The successful candidate will be proficient in event management platforms, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. They must also demonstrate a thorough understanding of risk management and liability issues pertinent to event planning. With more than six years of related experience, preferably in higher education or a large-scale institutional setting, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, the ideal applicant will have demonstrated leadership in supervising staff, budget management, billing, and vendor relations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • six years of experience in event planning hospitality management or other related field

  • eight or more years of progressively responsible experience in event services or conference operations preferably in higher education or large-scale institutional setting
  • experience supervising teams including full-time staff and student workers
  • demonstrated experience with budgeting billing and vendor negotiations
  • familiarity with university policies and procedures related to facility usage and liability
  • ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including faculty staff students and external partners
  • proficient in event management platforms scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite
  • ability to prioritize tasks manage competing deadlines and work independently
  • demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Coordinates the full scope of event services including reservations scheduling planning service delivery billing and post-event evaluations
  • manages and maintains the School of Public Health events calendar and ensures timely and accurate updates
  • oversees event setup logistics and manages event timelines and service schedules
  • provides operational support to the Dean's Office team during events and peak activity periods
  • ensures compliance with university policies including administration of insurance documents and waivers of liability
  • designs documents and implements a comprehensive event strategy aligned with school goals
  • develops event-related policies procedures and reporting mechanisms for internal and external stakeholders
  • builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and efficiency
  • collaborates with internal units and external partners to support recruitment retention and school engagement efforts
  • coordinates with the Office of Student Services for integrated event planning that supports retention and recruitment initiatives
  • supervises and trains event staff setup crew student workers and part-time staff
  • determines staffing needs
  • oversees procurement of branded items and promotional materials
  • manages inventory
  • manages on-line School of Public Health purchasing store
  • performs other duties as assigned
