Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • six years of experience in event planning hospitality management or related field
  • ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including faculty staff students and external partners
  • proficient in event management platforms scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite
  • ability to prioritize tasks manage competing deadlines and work independently
  • demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • knowledge of risk management and liability issues related to events

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • six years of experience in event planning hospitality management or related field
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management Event Planning Business Administration or a related field preferred
  • eight or more years of progressively responsible experience in event services or conference operations preferably in a higher education or large-scale institutional setting
  • experience supervising teams including full-time staff and student workers
  • demonstrated experience with budgeting billing and vendor negotiations
  • familiarity with university policies and procedures related to facility usage and liability
  • ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including faculty staff students and external partners
  • proficient in event management platforms scheduling tools and Microsoft Office Suite
  • ability to prioritize tasks manage competing deadlines and work independently
  • demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • knowledge of risk management and liability issues related to events

Job Duties

  • Coordinates the full scope of event services including reservations scheduling planning service delivery billing and post-event evaluations
  • manages and maintains the SPH events calendar ensuring timely and accurate updates
  • oversees event setup logistics and manages event timelines and service schedules
  • provides operational support to the Dean's Office team during events and peak activity periods
  • ensures compliance with university policies including administration of insurance documents and waivers of liability
  • designs documents and implements a comprehensive event strategy aligned with school goals
  • develops event-related policies procedures and reporting mechanisms for internal and external stakeholders
  • builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and efficiency
  • collaborates with internal units and external partners to support recruitment retention and school engagement efforts
  • coordinates with the Office of Student Services for integrated event planning that supports retention and recruitment initiatives
  • supervises and trains event staff setup crew student workers and part-time staff
  • determines staffing needs
  • oversees procurement of branded items and promotional materials
  • manages inventory
  • manages on-line SPH purchasing store
  • performs other duties as assigned
