Leidos is currently seeking a Senior Linux Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance to join their team on-site at Langley Air Force Base, VA. This role focuses on designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for various deployments, managing Red Hat Linux environments, and providing technical leadership within a high-stakes, mission-critical setting. The Senior Linux Engineer will be responsible for administering server hardware, deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 operating systems, and managing critical applications. This position demands expertise in automation platforms like Ansible, Terraform, and Packer, along with strong skills in Linux system management and containerization technologies such as Podman, Docker, Kubernetes, and RedHat OpenShift.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency by automating deployments, optimizing system performance, and ensuring robust security compliance. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, managing configuration with Ansible Automation Platform, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and leading efforts to integrate automation into continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. The Senior Linux Engineer will also provide mentorship to junior team members, drive innovation through research of emerging tools, and collaborate across teams to maintain a resilient and scalable infrastructure.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus 8 to 12 years experience
  • Active and current DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • DoD 8570/8140-compliant certification at IAT Level II - CompTIA Security+ CE required
  • 10+ years of Linux administration
  • Experience with containerization products such as Podman, Docker, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift, or Rancher
  • Experience with configuration management systems like Puppet, Ansible, or Salt
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies
  • Shell scripting experience with at least one scripting language: Bourne shell, sed, awk, Perl, or Python
  • Understanding of LDAP and SSO technologies
  • Strong focus on automation
  • Familiar with writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Strong commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction
  • Ability to think strategically and proactively rather than reactionary
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment and learn on the job

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the administration and deployment of server hardware and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 operating systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for infrastructure automation
  • Implement and manage configuration management using Ansible across RHEL systems
  • Automate deployments using Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, and Packer
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in Ansible deployments and RHEL environments
  • Optimize existing Ansible code and RHEL configurations for improved performance and efficiency
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate Ansible automation into CI/CD pipelines
