Job Description

American Cruise Lines is the largest cruise line operating in the United States, known for its unique fleet that sails America’s scenic rivers. The company offers guests unforgettable experiences by combining luxury travel with exceptional dining and hospitality services. With a commitment to high-quality service, safety, and guest satisfaction, American Cruise Lines has established itself as a leading name in the cruise and hospitality industry. The company prides itself on maintaining a professional and inclusive work environment where employees can thrive and grow their careers in hospitality and culinary arts.

We are currently seeking a Senior Line Cook to join our dedicated shipboard culinary team as we prepare for the 2026 cruising season. This full-time, exempt position plays a critical role in the preparation and service of meals onboard our vessels, contributing directly to the memorable dining experiences we provide our guests. As a Senior Line Cook, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to ensure that all culinary standards are met, including accommodating special dietary needs, allergies, and guest preferences. Your expertise in line cooking and leadership abilities will help maintain smooth kitchen operations, optimize inventory usage, and minimize food waste.

This role requires managing multiple meal services including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special event catering, while also assisting with crew meals and maintaining a positive and efficient work atmosphere. You will supervise and train galley stewards to uphold cleanliness and safety standards and ensure compliance with all U.S. Coast Guard food safety protocols by completing daily temperature logs and monitoring sanitation practices.

The Senior Line Cook must be physically capable of performing strenuous tasks such as standing for long hours, lifting heavy items up to 50 lbs, and working in a moving vessel environment. The position demands flexibility with scheduling as shifts will include working 7 days per week on board, typically committing to 6-8 weeks on the ship followed by 1-2 weeks off. This schedule supports the operational needs of the cruise line while providing time off to rest and recharge.

In addition to competitive compensation with a daily rate, American Cruise Lines offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan with matching contributions. The company covers travel, accommodation, uniforms, and training expenses, making it an attractive option for culinary professionals seeking to expand their experience in a maritime hospitality setting. The Senior Line Cook position offers not only a career opportunity on the water but also a chance to be part of a passionate team dedicated to excellence in culinary service across America’s waterways.
